Epstein Data Wiki

A reference layer built from the released Epstein files. Every page is written from primary documents, and every sentence carries a footnote to the page it came from, so that any statement here can be checked against the record.

This is a prototype, and it is early. The pages listed below have been published. Others exist as drafts and are not published, because they have not yet been through review. Pages appear here only after they have been read against the source documents, checked by an independent reviewer, and corrected.

Drafts are also removed. Where a draft turned out to duplicate pages that already existed, or to rest on documents that do not say what it reported, it was withdrawn rather than published, and a good deal of what is here was written that way: material verified during a withdrawal was moved onto the page that properly holds it.

What the pages are, and are not

Each page reports what documents show. Allegations are identified as allegations, and the response of the person concerned is placed next to them wherever the record contains one. Nothing here is a finding of wrongdoing, and appearing in the released files is not evidence of it. Many people in these documents did nothing wrong.

Complainants who have not come forward publicly are not named or described. Names that are redacted in the documents are left redacted, including where a second copy of the same document fails to redact them. Identity numbers, home addresses, telephone numbers, and medical and family details are not reproduced for anyone.

Method

Each page is read against the underlying documents by a reviewer who opens every citation, then checked by a second, independent reviewer whose job is to try to fail it on privacy, fairness and sourcing. Pages usually go round more than once. Quotations are read from the scanned page image wherever the machine-read text is doubtful, which is often: several errors carried in earlier drafts turned out to be misread text rather than mistakes of fact.

Corrections are welcome and expected. If a page is wrong, the document it cites is the place to start.
