Peter Fenwick was a British neuropsychiatrist, an emeritus figure at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London, who between September 2016 and November 2018 corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein more intensively, as a share of his own file, than any other subject this desk has measured. The file is not a file about a man. It is an operational record of a research project and of the money for it: a proposal to scan two brains at once while a meditation teacher in Monaco “transmitted” an experience of light to a pupil; a formal University of London contract for £85,000 that Epstein’s lawyer signed and a university ethics committee refused; five months of searching for another institution that would take the money; a wire of fifteen thousand dollars that a bank statement records leaving an American charity of Epstein’s for an account in Fenwick’s own name at Coutts, twenty thousand more that he acknowledged without the file saying who sent it, and 6,500 pounds that reached a laboratory in Cyprus; and an ending in August 2018 in which Epstein refused further funding and said why. Nothing on this page is a finding of wrongdoing against him. He is accused of nothing in any document read for it, and where the file says what the arrangement was for, this page carries it.

Identification: the surname is contaminated, the address is not a query, and the subject is in the residue

The base. Measured on 2026-09-13 against the corpus full-text index, counting distinct documents and never pages: "Peter Fenwick" returns 474 documents over 520 sheets. The surname alone returns 581 over 640 sheets, of which 107 lie outside the base.⁸

peter_fenwick is not a measurement. The local part of his e-mail address is peter_fenwick. Querying it returns 474 documents, identical to the base, to the document: the tokeniser strips the underscore, so the query is the same query as "peter fenwick". The same trap was found on Ben Goertzel with an @ sign. An address query in this index is a proximity query and tells you nothing about the address.⁸

The 107 documents outside the base were censused, not sampled. All 107 were opened and the matched line of every one was read. The surname is a common English one and this is a heavily contaminated population:

The 34 are not marginal. Fifteen of them carry Epstein’s own note of the week he first met him, "jabor monday afternoon. leon tues fenwick, kuhn, churckin thiel.summers dinner woody thurs rothchild", written on 2 October 2016, the day before. Five are office appointment alerts for Skype calls. Four are Gino Yu writing from Havana in November 2017, "With FENWICK here in Havana." Three are the June 2018 exchange in which Epstein asks his accountant "did 25k go to fenwick charity.? did 50k go to mapps pac?" and is told "i do not recall discussing or seeing email on fenwick". The remaining seven include the scientific abstract of the study, a conference programme, a forensic export of Epstein’s own contact list, and Epstein telling Rupert Sheldrake that "pe=er fenwick suggsted that merlin s work . on plants woudl be somethin= i should see."^91314157

A guessed table cannot produce a null. Thirty-seven generated single-edit forms and sixty-six hand-probed ones were measured; forty-five of the hand-probed forms return nothing, and every null is recorded in the footnote because a null is a result. The hand-probe alone found three forms reaching documents no name form the desk had proposed can reach. Then the index itself was enumerated, and it found four more, one of which is the most important money document on this page.¹⁰

fenwich is the sheet’s own error and not the extraction’s, certified at the image: EFTA02534529 printed p.1, read at the image at 600 dpi, prints peter fenwich 15k in Richard Kahn’s own list of payments. This is the fourth name fault the desk has catalogued, the one a render confirms rather than cures. jenwick is the opposite case: EFTA00714871 printed p.1, read at the image at 400 dpi, prints an f where the extraction of the same line reads a j, so that form is the text layer’s and not the sheet’s.⁶¹⁶

Nineteen documents lie outside the 581-document surname population and reach him only through a broken spelling. All nineteen were opened. They are: two Deutsche Bank records for Gratitude America, a February statement and a transactions listing, on which the bank’s own payee line is rendered FENHICK on one and FENVOCK on the other; the accountant’s 1099 list, in three copies, under fenwich; three Lesley Groff day schedules under femvick; six copies of a list of Epstein’s scientific contacts and one office instruction of 3 October 2016 under fewick; EFTA02658875, a message he sent on 22 February 2017 confirming that a grant had arrived; a near-empty stub whose only content is a header; a Rupert Sheldrake reply of September 2016, "Glad you met Peter =enwick"; and a second copy of the February 2017 wiring thread. So the whole file is 600 documents on the union of every form measured, and the sender count below, which is computed on the 474-document base, is a floor and is stated as one.¹⁷¹⁰

A forename-only route exists here and is not bounded. A body of documents refers to him as “Peter” and nothing else: Gino Yu writing that "Alain is the subject that Peter uses for his studies", Alain Forget writing "peter runs the show; gino why not?", an Epstein office message reading only "peter is here". "Peter" is far too common a token to be a population and no count on this page is keyed on it. The figures here are figures about name forms, not about the man, and the honest statement of what they cannot reach is this paragraph.¹⁸

How much of this file is his own writing

A count of documents naming a person is not a count of what that person did. The rule below is stated completely enough to be reproduced, and a reader who follows only what is printed here must reach 166.

The parsing. For each of the 474 documents take the document’s own first sheet, the row with the lowest page number for that identifier. Take its non-blank lines in order. Find the first line whose start matches a sender label, over a nineteen-form set covering the damaged renderings of From: this extraction produces, the label optionally followed by a colon, semicolon or full stop and not immediately followed by a letter. The sender value is the remainder of that line. If that remainder contains no letter and no digit it counts as empty, because where the producing party has barred the address this extraction leaves a lone " or < behind the label. When the value is empty, take the next non-blank line, unless that line itself begins with a header label (the sender set plus To, Cc, Bcc, Sent, Date, Subject, Importance, Attachments, Reply-To, Received and their damaged forms) followed by punctuation, whitespace or the line end, or itself contains no letter and no digit, in which case the value is absent and the document is declined. Only the first sender label is used, so a quoted header lower on the sheet can never supply the sender. The full label set is in the footnote.²

The matching, which is half the rule. The sender value carries his name if it contains, case-insensitively, any of fourteen surname forms. On this population that tolerance buys nothing, and the page says so rather than implying the fourteen forms are load-bearing: every one of the nineteen matching values contains the clean string Fenwick, and matching on fenwick alone returns the same 159. The other thirteen forms are carried because they are corruptions measured elsewhere in this file, and a rule cut to fit one population is not a rule. Eighty-eight distinct sender values occur across the 474 first sheets and nineteen of them contain a Fenwick form, varying only in what the bar has eaten around the name: Peter Fenwick, "Peter Fenwick", Peter Fenwick <, "Peter Fenwick" <a>, Peter Fenwick cp,, _. The rule so stated returns 159 documents at windows of 8, 12, 16, 24, 30 and 60 non-blank lines and at the whole first sheet.²

The forename clause, stated separately because it is a judgement. Seven further first sheets carry a sender value that is the bare forename, Peter, Peter <a or Peter `1Mla, with the surname inside the bar. All seven were opened and all seven are replies inside his own threads to jeffrey E., three of them in one exchange about ADHD in June 2018 and two more inside the “Grant” thread. They are named in the footnote so that a reader who declines them reaches 159 and knows exactly which documents produced the difference.²

The result: 166 documents, 35.0% of the 474. At the sixteen-line window, 432 of the 474 first sheets yield a sender value, 19 carry a sender label whose value is barred or blank, and 23 carry no sender label at all.²

The discount, published so a reader can overrule it. Six of the 166 carry the sender value Elizabeth Fenwick. EFTA02191789 printed p.1, read at the image at 400 dpi, quotes one of them in a forwarded block that prints From: "Elizabeth Fenwick" over his own address, and two sheets in the wider file carry her own signature, "Elizabeth (Peter's wife)". Both of them wrote from that one mailbox. Of the six, one message standing in two copies is signed “Peter”; one document is signed “Elizabeth” and speaks of him in the third person; three are unsigned. A reader who excludes all six reaches 160, or 33.8%; a reader who excludes only the one signed by her reaches 165. Every one of those figures is above the 27.8% measured on Ben Goertzel, which is the previous highest.¹⁹

166 documents are not 166 messages. Of the 160 documents in the narrower set, 150 yield a parsable top-level stamp. This production holds the same message in two export formats, one printing seconds and one rounding to the minute, so an exact-string comparison overstates: normalising and clustering stamps within ninety seconds gives 132 clusters, with eighteen pairs. Adding the ten undatable documents at worst one for one, the set represents between 132 and 142 distinct messages, running 20 September 2016 to 10 November 2018. By year: 2016 nineteen, 2017 ninety-four, 2018 thirty-seven.²⁰

The other half of the file. A recipient rule of the same shape, taking every To, Cc or Bcc line and its continuations on the whole first sheet and stopping at the second sender label, returns 150 documents that name him on a recipient line without his writing. It returns 147 at eight lines, 149 at sixteen and 150 at thirty, sixty and the whole sheet; the whole-sheet reading is the published figure. The remaining 158 documents are other people writing about him: Epstein himself, Lesley Groff’s schedules, Gino Yu, John Cummins, Rupert and Merlin Sheldrake, Stuart Hameroff and Skype’s own notifications. 166 plus 150 plus 158 is 474, and a reconciling total proves the buckets partition and not that any one contains what its name says, so each was read independently.²¹

There is no journalism about him in this file. Across all 474 documents and all 1,054 of their sheets, which is every sheet those documents hold and not the 520 that match the phrase, matched case-insensitively, the standard press markers return nothing at all: SECTION: 0, BYLINE: 0, Reprinted 0, LENGTH: n words 0, FINAL EDITION 0, Copyright YYYY 0, Load-Date 0, union 0. The control fires as expected: All Rights Reserved matches 189 documents and is Epstein’s own e-mail footer. A file of 474 documents with no press capture in it is a working file, not a clippings file.²²

September 2016: delivered by Gino Yu, in five days

He arrives through Gino Yu, and it is settled in a single afternoon. On 14 September 2016, on a sheet stamped Sent: Wednesday, September 14, 2016 2:48 PM, Yu wrote to Epstein: “A mentor of mine, Peter Fenwick who is based in the UK, will be in NYC Oct 3-4. Just checking to see if you’d like to meet with him. He did the eye gazing study that I talked to you about (EEG) … The interesting thing about him is that he tried to do enlightenment research 50 or so years ago, but wasn’t able to quantitatively identify who was enlightened. So he ended up researching near death experience.” On a second sheet, stamped 3:00 PM, Epstein answered: “of course , anyone anytime i am anywhere.” On a third, stamped 3:19 PM, Yu wrote to all three men at once, and the money is settled in that message, before Fenwick has written a word:

I’d like to introduce you to Ray Lee and Peter Fenwick. Ray is the one doing the two headed scans at Princeton. Peter is in from London and did the eye-gazing work with EEG that I showed you when we met. Perhaps the three of you can meet at Jeffrey’s place in NYC while Peter is there.

Ray, Jeffrey will support our eye gazing study (hope to also have Peter there too).

On a fourth, stamped Date: Wed, 14 Sep 2016 15:39:27 +0000, Yu attached a set of Fenwick’s slides, “Not yet published. Please do not release”, and named the study’s subject: “I had a talk with Alain Forget last week and he’s agreed to join the study. He’s the one that can transmit light.” Those four are the earliest dated documents in the base set: of the 424 of the 474 that yield a parsable top-level date, none is earlier.²³

On 20 September 2016 he wrote to three people at once, "Hi Gino, Ray and Jeffery", offering to break a train journey from Washington so that a meeting could happen in New York on 3 October. Within five days he had spoken to Epstein, and on 26 September he was in Monaco introducing him to the man who would be the study’s subject: "Thanks for your time last week, I enjoyed our chat. I am now in Monaco and have spoken to Alain Forget. He would like to speak with you and suggests a Skype call."²⁴²⁵

The arrangements for the first call were made from the shared mailbox, and the sheets show which of them was typing. On 21 September, over the display name Elizabeth Fenwick, a message signed “Peter” gave the times he could manage in UK summer time. The next morning, over the same display name, a message signed “Elizabeth (Peter’s wife)” gave his Skype name and confirmed. The office’s replies are addressed to “Peter” and to “Elizabeth” on alternate days, which is how the ambiguity in the sender field is settled.¹⁹

On 2 October Epstein put him in a week. The office’s note of that Sunday reads "jabor monday afternoon. leon tues fenwick, kuhn, churckin thiel.summers dinner woody thurs rothchild", and Monday’s schedule carries "Reminder: Peter Fenwick and Ray (Gino's people) were asking if they could come see you today" and, later that day, "TBD Peter Fenwick late in the day". Tuesday’s carries "I1:0am SKYPE w/Peter Fenwick and Ray Lee". Those are office appointment records and they establish that meetings were scheduled, not that they occurred; the rule this desk applies to day sheets is set out at Calendars and daily schedules. On this occasion the file settles it, and settles it the other way. Lesley Groff wrote that morning, "Jeffrey is in NY and asking if you can come see him today", and gave Epstein’s home address; Fenwick answered, "Good morning we are on the train north so we won't be getting off at New York. This time." They spoke by Skype the next day instead, and on 4 October he opened a message "Great talking to you today."¹³²⁶

The study: two brains at once, and a man who transmits light

The proposal is in the file in his own words. On 10 December 2016, under the subject “Hyperscanning Grant”: "Hyperscanning is very exciting and maybe will give us a better understanding of how we control/influence each other and what the nature of 'esoteric light' is." He went on: "If you are interested in 'Dying' or the changes in consciousness and all the non-local effects that occur when we die (amongst which is also 'light') we can chat further", and closed "When we get the hyperscanning project running I would like to scan you and Alain together!!"²⁷

The contract states what was to be done. The Goldsmiths agreement names the principal investigator as Professor Joydeep Bhattacharya of the Department of Psychology, the co-investigator as Professor Andreas A Ioannides of a Nicosia laboratory, and Fenwick as “Collaborator”, “Emeritus Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College University of London”. Its stated aim is "to explore neural and physiological correlates of meditation experiences in an expert meditator and pupils", and the principal participant is named: Alain Forget, "whose pupils often report experiences while meditating with him". The data would be analysed in Cyprus.⁴

The abstract of the pilot is in the release too, filed under King’s College London and authored "Fenwick P.*, Luft C., Liu L., loannides A., Bhattacharva J.": “The induction of light in others. Changes in mental activity. Investigation of brain electrical activity in a teacher who while meditating can induce the subjective experience of ‘light’ in his students”. It records that "Sixty four channels EEG signals were obtained from the teacher-pupil in different conditions" and that higher activity during transmission appeared in multiple regions, the increases being "more prominent in the right temporal cortex in the theta range, becoming bilateral in the alpha range". The programme of the June 2017 Science of Consciousness meeting lists him among its plenary speakers, and the release holds his plenary line on ten documents, in two states. Seven carry the programme as it stood in April 2017, which prints Peter Fenwick, Kings College, London and gives his talk no title at all; three carry the final programme of 21 May, which prints Peter Fenwick, UC London and titles the talk. The title is damaged in all three extractions of the final programme and in a different place in each; as EFTA02391123 p.6 prints it, it is '= Meditation Teacher Who Can 'Transmit' Subjective Light/Energy', and the two other copies print an A where that = stands. One of the ten was read at the image, EFTA01049745 p.3, where his April line and its session heading print as the extraction gives them except that the heading’s digit is an arabic 1 and the extraction makes it a roman I; the other nine stand on their extractions, and this page does not assert which affiliation was right.⁷⁵

Epstein was not a passive donor and the file says so. In a Skype exchange of 3 November 2016 he asks "what experiment would you like to fund"; ten days later, "what research would you prioritize , how much do you need?" The following March he proposed an experiment of his own: "I think you should try doing the brain of a really serious actor. to see changes with different characters." In October 2016 he asked a question that Fenwick answered at length: "peter, most researchers study one brain at a time. a kidney cell unless surrounded by other similar cells kills itself . why does a person in solitary confinment go crazy , if the inidvidual was independnet of other similar organzims around it."²⁸²⁹

The £85,000, and the ethics committee that refused it

Before the contract there was a shorter route, and Epstein declined it. Through the last week of December 2016 Fenwick looked for a body that would take the money: an American charity on the 24th ("I have =ot yet located an American charity that will take the donation and then =ive it to Goldsmiths College in London"), and on the 27th, at Gino Yu’s suggestion, Ben Goertzel’s Humanity+ ("Gino ... is putting me in touch with Ben Goertzel of H+ registered in the US who he says can help"). On the 28th, finding Goldsmiths shut until 4 January, he offered a third:

I contacted =he Chair of the Scientific and Medical Network, which is primarily an =ducational charity with an interest in this area, of which I am =resident, (https://explore.scimednet.org/), and asked the =hair if the Board would accept the grant given to us. The =rant would of course stay under my direction, and then used to fund a =esearch institute which carries out hyperscanning, with the =ecommendation that this is Goldsmith’s college.

Epstein answered in six words: "goldsmith better. i have no deadline." The route that was taken was the university’s.³⁰

The contract itself is the clearest transaction in the file and it did not complete. On 14 January 2017 Darren Indyke wrote to Fenwick: "Mr. Epstein asked that I contact you to request that you finalize the agreement below between Goldsmiths' College and Enhanced Education", giving the foundation’s Virgin Islands address and asking for wire instructions. Fenwick returned the contract on 19 January: "Attached the final contract for Goldsmiths, could you please look through it and if you agree it, sign it, send it back to Karen (who I copied in) who will sign it and send it back to you with the payment details. The cost is £85 000 (k) GBP or today $104,712.00. US dollars." Indyke replied the same evening asking for one correction: "I am actually Vice President of Enhanced Education, and not President."³¹

The agreement in the release is executed on one side only, and that is a claim about pixels. EFTA00615498 is the three-sheet Goldsmiths letter of 16 January 2017. Its printed p.2, read at the image at 400 dpi, sets the price: "In consideration of the Goldsmiths undertaking the research project, the Client will pay Goldsmiths the sum of £85,000", states that "The Client is paying this sum by way of a philanthropic donation, and is not receiving anything in return", and adds a special condition that Goldsmiths "will pay the Co-I, Professor Andreas Ioannides in Cyprus, an amount of up to £20,000 upon receipt of a suitable invoice", the surname following the image where the extraction of the same line reads loannides. Its printed p.3, read at the image at 600 dpi, carries four fields in three different states. Goldsmiths’ own signature rule on p.2 is an empty rule, no ink and no bar; the name and position of its Pro Warden are printed type on p.3 and its date line is a blank rule. Beneath, over “for and behalf of Enhanced Education”, a signature in blue ink runs across the rule, above the printed name Darren K. Indyke, and the date is written by hand: 1/20/17. The text layer of that sheet drops the signature entirely and renders the manuscript date as 1 ( v9O. A manuscript signature and a blank rule extract identically, so this is a question only the image can answer.⁴

On 1 March 2017 the money had still not moved, and Epstein’s accountant asked whether something else had replaced it. EFTA00691513 printed p.1, read at the image at 400 dpi, is Richard Kahn to Epstein: “darren has yet to receive back signed agreement along with wire instructions / should darren pursue further or pass? / did 15k to peter from gratitude replace this transaction?” Beneath it stands Indyke’s covering message of 23 January 2017, sending the executed agreement to Goldsmiths and asking for a countersigned copy "so that Enhanced Education may complete the £ 85,000 grant".³¹

Goldsmiths refused it. On 10 March Fenwick forwarded the college’s own letter, whose relevant sentence reads, as the extraction gives it, "The =ollege's Ethical Committee to Consider the Acceptance of Gifts is =cheduled to convene a meeting on 21 February 2017. On that occasion, =he Committee will consider the offer made by the Enhanced Education =rust to contribute funding to work being done by yourself and Professor =oydeep Bhattacharya." The letter apologises for the delay and promises to revert. On 23 March 2017 he wrote, read at the image at 400 dpi: “Goldsmiths have rejected the gift!! (I could wring their necks) / Plan B. Could you send the money to the Network (an educational trust), they will contract with the Enhanced Education Trust and Andy to have the work carried out in Cyprus”.³²¹⁶

That refusal is corroborated outside the file. The Cyprus Investigative Reporting Network’s 2026 investigation carries a statement from Goldsmiths that "the matter was referred to Goldsmiths Ethical Committee for Acceptance of Gifts, who took the decision to refuse the funding". The corpus and the college say the same thing, from opposite ends, nine years apart.¹²

The search for a vessel, and what an unfunded grant looks like

For the next four months the correspondence is almost entirely about finding an institution that would take Epstein’s money. A publisher’s trust in February; University College London, which said no; a Cambridge psychology department; a private laboratory in San Diego; and a Spanish university. On 30 March 2017 he proposed a full split: "Professor Ernesto Pereda of the Physics Department of =a Laguna University (ULL) a well established Spanish University has =greed to host the money and administer it, taking 20%, and sending it =o Goldsmith's who will also take 20%." The division follows on the same sheet, four lines, quoted here as the extraction gives them:

The unclosed parenthesis is the extraction’s, on a sheet this page has not opened, and nothing is closed or supplied.³³³⁴

On 5 April he put three options to Epstein, and they are worth printing whole:

Epstein’s reply two hours later was a question, not an answer: "who is andy ? why cyprus? i am traveling until monday, will revert then". By 10 April the options had been reduced by one more: "Tried =niversity college London- they say no". On 24 April he asked to go ahead with the second: "May I now set up contract with Professor Ernesto Pereda of the Physics Department of La Laguna University (ULL) and Darren K. Indyke (President) Enhanced Education / Best option now." Nothing read for this page records an answer to that request, a contract with La Laguna, or a payment to any of the three bodies. Searched over the whole 581-document surname population, "La Laguna" returns eight documents, "Ernesto Pereda" three and "Scientific and Medical Network" ten; the matched line of every one was read, and every one is a proposal, a discussion of a proposal, or an unrelated hotel name.^35363733

Epstein’s assessment of the work itself is on the file and it is blunt. On 14 April 2017, of a set of results: "peter, this work is very very poor. = sorry". On 26 April: "phase slope, analysis, =Jawed. seperate from a =igh gamma with little control. i see nothing of =nterest. you need to do better. for =unding. i have great respect for you„ but it is =ifficult when you send me things that you yourself cant explain". Fenwick’s answers do not concede the science but do concede the funding position: "I =omplete analysis with the present 15K grant. You see the paper and decide."³⁸³⁹

The money that did move

15k, February 2017, out of Gratitude America. On 18 February 2017 Fenwick sent bank details under the subject “Transfer”, opening "Great talking this am." and closing "Thanks very much indeed so we get started!!" Epstein forwarded it to Kahn with three words: "15k from gratitiude". Kahn asked twice what it was: "consultant? if so 1 year agreement?" and then, told "research grant", "i will have darren draft agreement / shall i send money before signed or wait?" On 22 February 2017 at 23:29 Fenwick wrote, read at the image at 400 dpi: “Thank you so much for the starter grant which arrived safely last night. It is very kind of you and most exciting for us as now we can begin!!” He added: "We will extend the work in Cyprus so that we are ready for the analysis of the new data when it starts."⁴⁰⁴¹

The wire itself is in the release, and no name form anyone had guessed reaches it. EFTA01286660 is a Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas statement for GRATITUDE AMERICA, LTD, St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, for 1 to 28 February 2017. Read at the image at 600 dpi, its Transaction Detail block is a five-column table, and the rows are given here in prose rather than as a quotation because a table is not continuous text. It opens with a Beginning Balance as of February 1, 2017 of $198,597.30. On 02-07 a Check 308 of (50,000.00 ) leaves 148,597.30. On 02-21 an Outgoing Money Trnsf of (15,000.00 ), described on the line beneath it as TO COUTTS AND CO. A/C PETER FENWICK, leaves 133,597.30. On 02-28 an Interest Payment of 11.89 brings it to the printed Ending Balance as of February 28, 2017 of $133,609.19.

The image prints PETER FENWICK. The extraction prints PETER FENHICK, which is why no query built on his name reaches this document. A second Deutsche Bank listing for the same account, covering 3 January to 22 June 2017 and read at the image at 600 dpi, carries the same line as 02/21/2017 MONEY TRANSFER / TO COUTTS AND CO. A/C PETER FENWICK / 15,000.00; its extraction renders the surname FENVOCK. So the sum is fifteen thousand United States dollars, it left a charity of Epstein’s on 21 February 2017, and it went to an account in Fenwick’s own name at Coutts & Co. He wrote on the evening of 22 February that the grant "arrived safely last night". The running balances on the February sheet reconcile exactly, which is how the figures were checked independently of the extraction.⁴²⁴¹

The accountant’s own record of that payment is a second document no name form reaches. On 30 and 31 January 2018 Kahn sent Epstein a list under the subject "gratitude 1099's": "please advise if you would like to file for any of the following for 2017 pa=ments:", and then five lines, of which the fourth is peter fenwich 15k. Read at the image at 600 dpi: the misspelling and the = are both on the face of the sheet. Epstein’s answer, the same afternoon, was one word: "no". What the exchange establishes is that Epstein’s accountant recorded a 15k payment to him from Gratitude America for 2017 and that Epstein declined to file an information return for it. It does not establish why, and nothing read for this page says.⁶

6,500 GBP to Cyprus, in six instalments across 2017. The Nicosia laboratory invoiced him on 3 March 2017 for "Professional services and consultation for contract work with Dr Peter Fenwick", the work being to "Receive the already collected EEG data from Professor Joydeep Batacharya (JB) of Goldsmiths College from a study of Alain Forget and two students" and analyse it. The invoice is 6,500 GBP. A receipt dated 22 December 2017, read at the image at 400 dpi, is addressed to “Dr Peter Fenwick MB BChir DPM FRCPsych / Neuropsychiatry Office” and records payment against that invoice in six parts: 500 and 2,500 GBP on 19 March 2017, 1,000 on 29 April, 1,000 on 16 May, 1,000 on 15 June and 500 on 11 December, "Total 6500 GBP (7386 Euros)", over a signature in blue ink. The receipt does not say whose money it was. What it does say is why it is in the release at all: on 8 September 2018, three weeks after Epstein had refused further funding, Fenwick sent him an accounting, "Andy's and Prof Joy Bhattacharya's invoices attached. I have not yet had one from Giuseppe for his trust in Sapienza University", and the attachment list on that message names receipt_aaiscs_1748.pdf and invoice_2017_48.pdf, which are these two documents.³⁴³

15k euro, November 2017, through an Italian charity. On 15 November 2017 Fenwick wrote "Thanks, I have asked Giuseppe to send you the details =f his trust. Exciting we get start=d!", and the following day Giuseppe Bersani supplied the bank details of a Rome trust. Epstein forwarded the chain to Kahn with the line "15k euro gratitude". In September 2018 Bersani wrote to Fenwick about the consequence: "I enclose the last page of MIND's tax declaration 2017, where you can see the final sum to pay, due to the fact that we received the sum by Jeffrey in 2017 but it was not spent in the same year."⁴⁴

£20K, acknowledged at the end of 2017. On 29 December 2017, under the subject “Happy New Year”: "Thanks for the £20K this year." No document read for this page records the instruction, the wire or the payee for that sum, and it is carried here as his acknowledgement and nothing more.⁴⁵

Money that arrived in Italy, June 2018. On 18 June 2018, at 14:01, inside a thread about ADHD, Epstein wrote "send me your wiring details". Fenwick sent them the same afternoon, in a message of his own headed Wiring: "Giuseppe is hosting the money for the project in Rome in his charity, and the work will be done by Fabio in his lab in the University Sapienza Rome , the breathing and Cardiac analysis will be done in UCL by Prof Kevin Moore, and the brain modelling by Andy in Cyprus." On 29 June: "The money has arrived in Italy, very many thanks". Three days before that, on 26 June, Epstein had asked Kahn "did 25k go to fenwick charity.? did 50k go to mapps pac?" and been told "mapp pac was done on 6-12 / i do not recall discussing or seeing email on fenwick". Whether the 25k of the question and the money that arrived in Italy are the same sum is not established by anything read for this page, and the two are set out here in date order without a connection being asserted.⁴⁶⁴⁷¹⁵

August 2018: the refusal, and what Epstein said it had been for

The end is documented on both sides, in five messages between 8 and 12 August 2018. On 8 August 2018 Fenwick asked for "20K to complete the funding of the =ome study". On 9 August Epstein answered "No . Sorry have yet t= see any indication of something meaningful", and on 11 August Fenwick came back with a smaller figure: "If 20K is too much, would 10K be possible? Then we will have the answ=r, and then we can go for the full experiment if you want." Epstein’s reply on that sheet, read at the image at 600 dpi, is a single line about somebody else: "reminder when i asked gino for his breakdown was when i fo=nd out 50% went for drinks and food". On 12 August: "sorry, =nbsp; we are at and end/".⁴⁸¹¹

On 15 August Fenwick argued back, and Epstein set out his reasons. Fenwick: "You say we are =t an end, but scientifically we are only at an exciting =eginning ... Because you were unwilling to fund this and =anted the effect to be demonstrated before the study, we decided to do =n off-the-cuff study and there was a definite effect." Epstein’s answer, read at the image at 600 dpi, is the fullest statement in the file of what the arrangement was and why it ended:

peter , i have great respect for you and =njoy our discussions. I have made numerous grants over the =ears and this one soley based on my realtionship with you = I have received many accountings of my =oundation money. but can say , none as poor as what was presented =y your team. If i were your team i would have made =ertain as you require serious funding that all monies are =etailed . the idea that in aug i hear that last year =here was a tax issue. . payments only made to indiv without =ocumentation, willy nilly, . I am sorry , =ou and I can speak , meeet whenever you like. your project =as reviewed after you presented me that ludricrous accounting = As Im sure you are aware , it has =ictated a clear no further funding notice.

The = characters are printed on the face of that sheet, which reached the release through an export that turned soft line breaks into printed = signs; nothing is supplied for them. This desk’s rule is that printed damage is never repaired, and the words behind the damage are not written out here.

Fenwick’s reply the next day is on the same sheet and is carried in full, because a page that prints the refusal and not the answer has made an assertion by omission:

I understand – a shame but we are =ery grateful for the help you’ve already given which enabled us =o get a good way into exploration of the nature and =ffect of the light.

I hope we can remain in contact – I =oo have enjoyed my conversations with you. I look forward to =peaking to you again when I’m back in London. There are a =umber of questions in relation to the evolution of mind which =‘d like to discuss with you.

The relationship did not in fact stop there. On 6 October 2018 he reported "Doing well, Paper accepted for publication, do you want your name or foundation as a £under?", and on 10 November 2018, in the last message from him in this file: "Thanks so much for making the experiment in Rome =ossible. It went well and we now =wait the results." Nothing after that date is in the sender set, and nothing read for this page records whether the paper was published or whether Epstein’s name or foundation appeared on it.⁴⁹⁵⁰

The rest of the file, briefly

He introduced people, as Gino Yu had introduced him. Alain Forget in Monaco, in his first week; Erik Viirre of the University of California San Diego; Professor Fabio Babiloni of Rome; the author Stephan A Schwartz, whose website he sent; and in May 2018 John Cummins, "one of the people who has progressed furthest with the light", whose curriculum vitae he attached and for whom he arranged a New York meeting the following month; on 16 June he wrote "Speak tomorrow, looking forward to hearing what you think of J.", and nothing read for this page records whether that meeting took place He also, in July 2018, sent Epstein to Rupert Sheldrake about the biologist Merlin Sheldrake’s work on plants.⁵¹⁵²⁵³

He offered Epstein a house in Scotland. On 26 September 2017, three weeks after Hurricane Irma: "Why don't you come to live in the Scottish Highlands NO Hurricanes NO tornadoes NO boiling sun and Very Few people!! And very beautiful. Picture from the front of our Scottish House." In the same message: "To ease your load may I start on the contract with Darren K. Indyke (Vice-President) Enhanced Education". The message is one paragraph of hospitality and one paragraph of business, and the file does not separate them.⁵⁴

He asked after Epstein through the 2017 hurricanes, four times in a week, in messages headed “Irma”, “Storm”, “storm and after” and “Miami Flooding”: "After =he trashing of your island, you will be feeling bereaved. It's =ot only people it can be possessions too!" In June 2018 he asked whether Epstein’s son had attention deficit disorder and was told "i have no son. i= is a professor at mit."⁵⁵⁵⁶

Three of the twenty-three header-less documents are Skype transcripts and they carry his own words, not merely Epstein’s. That is why the header-less bucket is not treated here as “not correspondence”: a classifier’s bucket is not a document class, and these are exchanges between the two men that no sender rule can see. The other twenty are Epstein office month schedules, the Goldsmiths contract drafts, the Cyprus invoice and receipt, and ten mobile-device forensic exports, one of which lists “Peter Fenwick” as a Skype contact on Epstein’s own machine. The modification date printed near that entry belongs to the record above it and not to his, which the columnar layout of the export makes easy to misread.⁵⁷⁵⁸

Epstein paid $50,000 in April 2017 to the Center for Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona, for the June 2017 San Diego conference at which Fenwick gave a plenary. The request that produced that payment names him nowhere, and the conference’s own speaker list carries thirty-five names, thirteen of them below a line reading ???waiting to hear from. It is recorded here only because both men were at that conference: Epstein wrote on 8 June "I'm in drift restaurant lo=king for you", and Fenwick wrote three days later "Great seeing you."⁵⁵⁹⁶⁰

What this page does not establish

• That the £85,000 was ever paid. The agreement is executed by Enhanced Education and by nobody else; Goldsmiths’ own letter records that its gift committee was to decide; Fenwick wrote on 23 March 2017 that it had rejected the gift; and the college said the same thing to reporters in 2026. No wire confirmation, bank record or receipt for that sum was located in anything read for this page.
• That the sums that did move all came from a named vehicle. For the $15,000 of February 2017 the source is documented: a Deutsche Bank statement and a Deutsche Bank transactions listing both show it leaving Gratitude America on 21 February 2017 for his Coutts account. For the 15k euro of November 2017 the source is Epstein’s own word, "15k euro gratitude". For the £20K acknowledged in December 2017, and for the six Cyprus instalments, no source is named on any sheet read here.
• That the June 2018 “fenwick charity” question and the money that arrived in Italy are the same payment. They are three days apart and the file does not join them.
• What became of the research. A paper is said in October 2018 to have been accepted; no document read for this page names it, and this page does not assert that one was published. The test was written before it was run, on what such a document would say: a title, a journal name, a digital object identifier, an offprint. Searched over the whole 581-document surname population, published returns 12 documents, journal 12, a digital object identifier in any form 4, and accepted for publication 2. The matched line of every one was read. The two accepted for publication hits are the two copies of the October 2018 message itself. The identifier hits are two of OCR noise and two copies of one conference programme, citing three papers by another author. hyperscanning over the same population returns 16 documents, all opened: the four contract drafts, the abstract, and eleven messages of correspondence. No offprint, journal name or article identifier belonging to this study appears in any of them.
• No allegation. No document read for this page contains any allegation against him. Over the whole 581-document surname population, CIRCUIT COURT, DISTRICT COURT, SUPREME COURT, plaintiff, Case No, subpoena and affidavit return nought documents each; deposition returns two, both opened, and both are Epstein office month schedules carrying the line 8:30am Deposition at Jack Goldberger's office, which is his deposition and not anything of Fenwick’s.
• No island, no aircraft, no residence. Over the same population, guest list returns nought; flight log, manifest and passenger return three documents, all opened, and all three are Epstein office month schedules whose only matching line is 4:00pm Tristar Pick u o 9 passengers. No document read here places him at Little Saint James. The one meeting in person the file records is at the San Diego conference of June 2017, after which he wrote "Great seeing you." The New York meeting the office proposed for 3 October 2016 did not happen and he said so on the day; a New York visit he proposed for October 2017 produced none either, Epstein answering "im in =aris , otherwise id love to". The rest of the contact recorded here is Skype, telephone and e-mail.

The corpus was left as it was found. The index enumeration at ¹⁰ required a virtual table to be created inside the corpus database. It was dropped, and the drop was verified two ways: sqlite_master reads 54 objects before the work and 54 after, with no temporary object of any kind remaining, and the base count re-derives at 474.

Clocks. No page-wide zone is assumed. A time carrying an explicit offset is printed with that offset. A time taken from an Outlook Sent: stamp, which does not carry a zone in this production, is given as the sheet prints it and is never converted, and no sequence is asserted across two such stamps.

Printed damage. A large part of this correspondence reached the release through an export that turned quoted-printable soft line breaks into printed = characters. Where a quotation carries =, that character is on the face of the sheet, and nothing is supplied for it. Where this page has not opened the sheet, the quotation is marked UNVERIFIED and no claim is made about whether the damage is the sheet’s or the extraction’s.

Values not reproduced. No bank account number, IBAN, sort code, SWIFT code, telephone number, postal address or messaging handle is reproduced anywhere on this page, and no e-mail address in full. The single exception is the local part peter_fenwick, printed once in the identification section because the finding there is about how the index treats that token and the query cannot be re-run without it. Where a footnote records that a bar stands over a field, it names the class of value and a count and nothing else; where a value is not barred, this page neither prints it nor says where it stands.

5. The Science of Consciousness, 5 to 10 June 2017, Hyatt Regency La Jolla, San Diego. The release holds his plenary line on ten documents, and they are not ten copies of one programme: seven carry the programme as it stood in April 2017 and three carry the final programme of 21 May, and between the two his affiliation, his plenary number, his session heading and whether his talk is titled at all all change. The ten were found by anchoring on the programme and not on his name (Northoff, Memristors and Hyatt Regency La Jolla over the index, then every sheet of every document so found swept with a pattern tolerant of a damaged surname), which is why the count is ten and not two. The seven April copies are the thread in which Epstein paid the conference at ⁵⁹: EFTA01049745 p.3, EFTA01049752 p.2, EFTA01049759 p.4 and EFTA01049771 p.3, the four messages of 11 April 2017 between Epstein and Stuart Hameroff; EFTA02653662 p.5, Epstein to Richard Kahn on 13 April; and EFTA02652419 p.11 and EFTA02652442 p.12, Epstein to Kahn on 17 April. All seven print PL7 against Friday June 9, and his line stands under a session heading printed Neuroscience and Consciousness 1 on EFTA01049745 p.3, read at the image at 400 dpi, where the digit is an arabic 1 cut identically to the 1 of Biophysics 1 - Memory, Spin and Anesthesia higher on the same sheet although that sheet’s text layer renders it as a roman I; Neuroscience and Consciousness 1 on EFTA01049752 p.2 and on the sheet before his line on EFTA01049759 p.4 and EFTA01049771 p.3, Neuroscience and Consciousness 1<1=> on EFTA02653662 p.5, and Neuroscience and Consciousne=s 1 on the two of 17 April. Every reading in that list but the first is its extraction’s rendering, none of those six sheets having been opened at the image. No April copy gives his talk a title. His own line prints Peter Fenwick, Kings College, London, clean, on the four of 11 April; Peter Fenwick, Kings College= London on EFTA02653662 p.5; and Peter Fenwick, Kin=s College, London on EFTA02652419 p.11 and EFTA02652442 p.12. Where this page prints Peter Fenwick, Kings College, London it is quoting the four copies of 11 April, which print it clean, and nothing is supplied anywhere on this page for the = of the 17 April copies. That title prints '= Meditation Teacher Who Can 'Transmit' Subjective Light/Energy' on EFTA02391123 p.6, =#39;A Meditation Teacher Who Can 'Transmit' Subjective Light/Energ=' on EFTA02649552 p.5, and 'A Meditation Teacher Who Can 'Transmit' Subjective Light/Energylk=8B on EFTA02362596 p.4. No copy prints it undamaged at both ends, and the body quotes it from one named sheet rather than assembling a clean reading out of two. One of the ten was rendered, EFTA01049745 p.3, and the other nine stand on their extractions; this page does not assert which affiliation was right, and it records that the April programme printed one and the final programme printed the other. Nine of the ten lie inside the 474-document base; EFTA02362596, which prints Pet=r Fenwick, does not, and it is the one counted in the 107-document residue at ⁹. The conference’s own speaker list, held at EFTA00644191 p.2, carries thirty-five names under Confirmed Plenary Speakers, of which thirteen stand below a line reading ???waiting to hear from. The address trap: the FTS phrase peter_fenwick returns 474, identical to "Peter Fenwick", because the tokeniser strips the underscore, so the query is a proximity query over two tokens and not a query for an address. His full e-mail address is not printed anywhere on this page. 10. Index enumeration, 2026-09-13. An fts5vocab virtual table was created over pages_fts in the corpus database, every term copied to a scratch database on local disk, and the virtual table then dropped; the drop was verified against sqlite_master, which reads 54 objects before and 54 after, with no fts5vocab or temporary object remaining, and by re-running the base count, which returns 474. The corpus is unchanged. The enumeration covers 12,121,974 distinct index terms. Every term of length 5 to 9 was scored by Levenshtein distance against fenwick and every term at distance 2 or less kept; every term of length 6 or more containing fenwic, enwick, fenwich or fnwck was kept; and a consonant-skeleton expression was matched against the whole vocabulary to catch run-together tokens. Ninety-six candidate terms resulted and every one was resolved to documents and read at the matched line. Four of the ninety-six reach documents that no form anyone had proposed reaches: femvick (5 documents, 3 outside the surname population), fewick (8 / 7), fenhick (1 / 1) and fenvock (1 / 1). An English account of the same investigation, Sigmalive, 20 May 2026, https://en.sigmalive.com/cypriot-researcher-linked-to-controversial-telepathy-project-tied-to-epstein/, fetched the same day, records that Fenwick died in 2024 and quotes Andreas Ioannides: “If you had mentioned the name Jeffrey Epstein then, I would have said: ‘Who is that?’” These are outside sources at the credible-allegation tier and are used here for two things only: the college’s own account of its decision, which the corpus independently records, and the fact of his death, which is why no answer from him appears on this page. Twelve of the fifteen print the segment leon tues fenwick; three do not, and they are named rather than described as a class: EFTA02041042 p.1 prints leon tucs fenwick, EFTA02041156 p.1 prints Icon tuts fenwick, and EFTA00816481 p.1 prints leon ties fenwick. None of the fifteen is in the base set, because none carries his forename beside the surname. The Monday schedule is HOUSE_OVERSIGHT_002312 p.1, which prints “TBD Peter Fenwick late in the day” and, in a run-on reminder line, “Reminder: Peter Fenwick and Ray (Gino’s people) were asking if they could come see you today”. Date analysis, 2026-09-13, over the 160 documents in the narrower sender set, from the first Date: or Sent: value in the top-level header of each first sheet, taking the next non-blank line where the label’s own line is empty. 150 parse; ten do not, their stamps being truncated on the sheet (Thursday, Augul...1, Friday, Octobejliii). This production prints the same message in two export formats, one carrying seconds and one rounded to the minute, so an exact-string comparison of raw stamps returns 149 distinct values and overstates the message count. Clustering the parsed stamps at a ninety-second threshold gives 132 clusters containing eighteen two-document pairs; every pair is one copy with seconds and one rounded, seventeen of the eighteen differing by under forty seconds and one being an exact match.
