Deepak Chopra is an Indian-American physician and author, the best known figure in Western alternative medicine, and between July 2016 and April 2019 one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most frequent correspondents. The file is not a file about a celebrity who met Epstein once. It is a working friendship of roughly a thousand days in which Chopra wrote to Epstein more than a thousand times, asked him for guidance on how to handle his scientific critics and appears to have taken it, sent him his private business plans and his private fundraising letters, arranged a medical test kit for him, invited him to Israel, to Carlsbad and to Zurich, and put his guests on his own guest lists. Epstein, for his part, paid the Chopra Foundation fifty thousand dollars, had his own intermediary run a press check on Chopra’s past, and told a third party that Chopra was “my buddy”. Nothing on this page is a finding of wrongdoing.

Finding him

His full name is unusual and the obvious spelling of it is close to clean: almost every document that carries a form of his name carries the plain one. What the plain spelling cannot reach is the way Epstein and his office actually wrote him, which was by forename alone, and that is where the most operational traffic sits: “Deepak at 3. Miro 630”, “TBD Lunch w/Deepak and Krauss”, “8:00am Deepak to join Jeffrey and Barnaby”, “Alert - deepak”, “sat deepak after 3”.124

Two cautions belong on the record. The forename is not his alone: a bank’s payment-investigations officer, a Deutsche Bank relationship manager whose surname is also Chopra, an artist, an airline executive, a Federal Trade Commissioner, a physicist’s citation and about a dozen other people share one or other half of his name in this release, and none of their documents is treated as his here.12 And Epstein misspelt him freely, writing “depak chopra”; the productions damaged him further, into “Deepak Chopr”, “Dee ak Chopra”, “Deepak Cho ra”, “Oeepak Chopra” and “Deepak Chapra”. An account of him built on the correct spelling alone would be short of him.116

How much of this file is his own writing

A count of documents naming a person is not a count of what that person did. About 1,550 documents in this population carry a form of his name at the head of the top-level sender field of the document’s own first sheet; about 1,200 of those are addressed to Epstein’s own mailbox. Because the release holds several export copies of many messages, those sheets resolve to between 1,209 and 1,351 distinct messages once timestamps are compared, and they run from 6 July 2016 to 3 April 2019. A further 1,143 documents are addressed to him in a To: or Cc: line without his writing anything. The rest are Epstein’s office day sheets, device-forensics exports, the sheets of a direct iMessage run between the two men, and third-party mentions.13

The shape of his own writing over time is steep and then sharp: by year, roughly 560 of his dated sheets fall in 2016, 640 in 2017, 205 in 2018, and four in 2019. He wrote to Epstein most in the two years after they met and very little in the last year of the file.13

The route in: Barnaby Marsh, December 2015 to July 2016

Epstein wanted Chopra for more than half a year before he got him, and the man he asked was Barnaby Marsh, then of the John Templeton Foundation. On 9 December 2015 Epstein wrote to Marsh, “can we do chopra watson tues or wed next week?” Marsh answered the next day: “I’m leaving nyc this weekend, and so wont be in n=c next week. Chopra gets back to the city around the 20th, and has propose= lunch on the 30th- the same day I get back.” On 19 December Epstein tried again: “is the first week in jan good for people. chopra watson or anyone else you find amusing,??” On 4 January 2016: “can do skype with chopra this week if that works”. On 5 February, minutes after Marsh had written “no, off to see chopras super-house and art collection, but might be free later, or in the morning, etc…”, Epstein answered “emial later, or invite chopra if you think appropriate”, and Marsh’s reply a minute later was “chopra very busy too, and jetting off in a few hours…”9

Chopra was already feeding names into Epstein’s circle before the two met. On 29 April 2016 Epstein wrote to Marsh a single line naming a cognitive scientist, “Donald Hoffman uni of cal Irvine .-perception”. Marsh answered on 4 May: “Yes, this is they guy Chopra keeps tellin= me about as worth meeting… I have no idea how good he is”. Epstein’s whole reply the next morning was “lets skype him.”9

The meeting finally happened on the morning of Wednesday 6 July 2016. Marsh had set it up the day before, writing “Delayed Nantucket Available to see me and deepak at either after 3 today? Or early tomorrow at 7:30am?”, and then, at 12:29 that afternoon, the sentence that frames everything that follows: “Deepak deeper than most realize… We should propose public face off with krauss!!!” Epstein answered, “i look forward to it. see you tomorw”. Later the same afternoon Marsh sent Epstein and Lesley Groff an agenda: “For discussion, these are Deepak’s 5 questions: / 1.What came before time? / 2. What is the universe really made of? / 3. Can the laws of physics both classical and/or quantum explain perceptional and mental experience? / 4. What is the biological bases of consciousness? / 5. Does the brain create the mind? If so, how? What is a thought?” The office schedule for the next morning carries the entry “8:00am Deepak to join Jeffrey and Barnaby”, two lines above “1:00pm LUNCH w/Leon Black”.154

That evening at 4:30 p.m. Marsh sent one message to both men at once, subject “Science and reality”. Its whole body is three lines:

Chopra answered nine minutes later, and his first message to Epstein sets the terms of the next three years:

Thanks Barnaby Jeff - I’m grateful that Barnaby arranged fo= us to meet today . You were v gracious to spend the time and offer your g=idance . I could use it ! I would love to engage with Lawrence Krauss =n a public dialogue on the nature of reality . I also thought your idea of asking 25 =imple unanswerable questions is a good start ! I’m going to send you a few articles and gal=eys of my next book soon and will await your guidance With love and gratitude deepak1

The = characters are printed on the sheet. Within two days Epstein was telling other people about him: on 8 July he wrote to the biologist Rupert Sheldrake, “depak chopra was here this morning, a great fan of yours”.6 Marsh, who had brokered it, was less enthusiastic in private. On 11 July he wrote to Epstein: “by the way, this deepak stuff is all over the map, and I can only do small amounts at a time … in a way, what he is basically saying is that it is ALL just thoughts and stories…ok, so what?”16

A month after the introduction Marsh ran a check. On Tuesday 9 August 2016 at 3:38 a.m. he sent Epstein a message headed “D C” whose whole body is one line and two links, to a 1997 Los Angeles Times magazine piece and to a 1996 New York Times magazine piece titled “Deepak’s Days in Court”: “Deepak negative media from years back - seems like phony claims”.17 The diligence in this file runs from Epstein’s side toward Chopra. No document read for this page shows anyone on Chopra’s side doing the same about Epstein.

”I will do as you guide me”

Eleven days later the relationship’s central exchange took place, and it is about Lawrence Krauss, the physicist who had been Chopra’s most public antagonist. At 8:09 on the morning of Saturday 20 August 2016 Epstein wrote: “im sure if you like we can begin the krause counseling session on skype.” Chopra answered at 9:24:

I just landed in NY I’m staring a new phase in my life visa vis my relationship with my critics 2 scientific papers on my work will be out soon Leonard read the new book and made some corrections so now 3 physicists have made sure that the science is accurate If you haven’t sent the book to him please hold off so he gets a corrected copy. I’m going to get off my high horse ( the tiger I can’t ) and try and start a dialogue with anyone who is willing . I will do as you guide me I’m going this afternoon to NJ to do a fundraiser for an orphanage and then to Boston until Monday afternoon Meeting Barnaby on Monday afternoon18

Epstein replied six minutes later: “i ll be any help i can, we are all of the same generation , it is silly to argue with hubris”. Chopra came back that afternoon, marking the message “Importance: High”:

I agree Maybe then just stick to Sept 18th meeting - polite and courteous - I will be respectful and deferential . On the advice of Leonard I’m removing all criticism of scientists from the book A production company in LA - connected to my son - is doing a documentary film on the new book . They are looking for critics I will film part of it as a lecture Al Gore * Inconvenient Truth ” style in Nantucket . I sent you the poster . Can send it again by text They would welcome his criticism I think we should wait to discuss until Sept 18th unless you suggest we invite him on Sept 23 to Nantucket ? I’m thinking what I should do with the Autumn of my life. Will get clarity during silence . The energy of pleasure has exhausted itself in me as also the energy that goes into ” being right ” I’m ready to serve In a meaningful way Love18

Both sheets were opened at the image. The parenthesis ”( the tiger I can’t )” answers a line Chopra had sent Epstein three weeks earlier by text, quoting a proverb back at him: “He who rides a tiger cannot dismount”.5

The deference was not universal. On 10 August 2016 Chopra had forwarded Epstein a thread among psi researchers, including the parapsychologist Dean Radin, the Nobel laureate Brian Josephson and the anaesthesiologist Stuart Hameroff, under the subject “Proposal for a psi experiment”. Epstein answered flatly, and the sheet that carries his message prints it with the damage shown: “science has begun to ask quesitons not much more. .&=bsp; the mystical traditions were unable to cure diarrhea for the 50=0 years they tried, sphilils the same, =these ancients arguements are silly at best”, with no terminal mark. Chopra’s reply, five minutes later, is four questions: “Who or what asks the questions ? / Who or what is curious about itself ? <=div> How does a physical mechanical object - a 3 =b piece of meat - develop curiosity imagination insight intuition or the d=sire to know itself ? / Worth pondering ? / Who or what ponders ?”19

On 22 August 2016 Chopra wrote to Epstein about a meditation paper accepted by a Nature journal, saying the editors “have told us we are free to present the findings at all scientific conferences and also conferences held by The Chopra Foundation such as Sages and Scientists (September 9-11, 2016)”, and adding a postscript: “The paper acknowledges support from The Chopra Foundation and Marc and Lynn Benioff who contributed generously.”20

The house, the car and the guest list

The traffic is thick with arrangements, and they run in both directions.

February 2017, Palm Beach. On 8 February Groff wrote to Chopra confirming that Epstein’s driver, Janusz Banasiak, would collect him from a Miami hotel on Saturday 11 February, “as early as 3:45pm just in case you are able to depart earlier than expected”, and drive him to Epstein’s Palm Beach house, “where you are welcome to stay the evening…Janusz can drive you back to Miami on Sunday…what ever is best for you.” Chopra’s answer was “Perfect / Will stay in touch and come early when done at PBS”, with no terminal mark on the sheet. On the Saturday he wrote that he was at his Miami hotel and might not be free until 4.30 p.m.; the office answered, “No worries. Janusz will be there for you! You can text him prior to stepping outside.”3

February 2017, a DNA test. On Tuesday 14 February 2017 Groff wrote to Chopra under the subject “Jeffrey Epstein”: “Hello Deepak…Jeffrey would like to send you a DNA test..can you please provide an address that we may send this to?”21

September 2017, the Skeptic invitation. On 11 September Chopra’s assistant, Carolyn Rangel, wrote to Groff under the subject “INVITATION FOR JEFFREY EPSTEIN”: “Deepak is on the road and asked me to send Mr. Epstein. Could you please share it with him and let me know if he is able to attend? Please rsvp by the end of this week. Note that he is welcome to bring as many friends as he desires. I’ll just need to know the names for the guest list.” The invitation beneath it, signed “Deepak”, reads: “I have agreed to join Michael Shermer on stage for Skeptic Magazine’s 25th anniversary in New York and would like to invite you to this event.” It gives the date as Wednesday 27 September, 5 to 7 p.m., at “YouTube Space NY” in Manhattan, and closes, “Please let me know if you are able to join as my guest. You are welcome to bring as many friends as you want.”3 Groff answered on 20 September with the guest names. One of them is Karyna Shuliak, Epstein’s girlfriend, who has her own page here. Nothing is supplied here for the others.3 This is one of the few bookings in the file that a document closes. Epstein’s day sheet for 27 September carries the entry “5.7:00pm Invite to =eepak Chopra & Michael Shermer on stage for Skeptic Magazines 25th Anniversary (JE +5)”, a damaged rendering of the hour and of his forename that is printed on that sheet, and at 1.50 the next morning Chopra wrote to Epstein and Marsh together under the subject line “Thanks for coming tonight”.22

November 2017, the Woody Allen dinner. On 29 November 2017 Epstein’s office invited Chopra to a dinner at the house whose other guests it named. That invitation is set out on Miroslav Lajcak’s page and is not repeated here.

9 October 2016: “zero in on your prey”

The two men also exchanged direct messages on an Apple platform, and an export of that thread is in the release. ⚠ A woman is discussed in the exchange below and the producer has covered her name wherever it appears. Nothing here supplies it, and nothing here describes her.

On the evening of Sunday 9 October 2016, some hours after Chopra had written “Thank you for a v lovely experience”, the thread runs:

Epstein: I sent … request for her details . I only met her in the street two weeks ago

Chopra: Amazing ! How did you pick her up ?

Epstein: Listen my son and the wisdom of sages will reflect your reality

Chopra: Aha ! / I have much to learn ,,

Chopra: In many ways … is more connected to ” reality ” than the brilliant scientists. / I felt connecte to er at the level of awareness

Epstein: I liked watching you zero in on your prey . Made me smile

The spaced ellipses stand where the producer’s bar falls. “connecte to er” and the stray marks after “learn” are printed on the sheet, and the slashes stand for line breaks inside a single message.23

How the speakers are identified, because the text layer cannot be read top to bottom. The export interleaves the thread’s two columns and prints its timestamps out of sequence. Attribution here rests on the sheet’s own labelling, which is consistent across the whole run: a block headed “Deepak” and closed with a “D” avatar mark is Chopra’s, and an unlabelled block is the device owner’s. The pass that wrote this page also read the sheet at the image and reports the same assignment from the position of the message bubbles. Two independent readings of the same sheet agree, and neither rests on the flattened text order.23

What this does not establish. Who the woman was, how old she was, whether she was ever contacted again, or what if anything followed. The exchange records what the two men wrote to each other. ⚠ It is not a finding about her and it is not a finding of wrongdoing by either man. Chopra’s public answer of February 2026, including his statement that some exchanges “reflect poor judgment in tone”, is set out below.14

”Bring your girls”

The same formula recurs through the file, and it is Chopra’s, not Epstein’s.

25 February 2017. Under the subject “I have an idea”, Chopra wrote:

Come to Israel with us Relax and have fun with interesting people. =f you want use a fake name . Bring your girls. It will be fun to have you . Love24

The =f is printed on the sheet, where If was intended. Epstein answered, “next time . im in santa fe monday”. Chopra came back that afternoon: “Ok / Your girls would love it as would you <=div> Be well Sending love”.24 All three sheets were opened at the image. No document read for this page shows that the trip took place or that anyone went.

4 June 2017. Chopra wrote from Carlsbad:

Yes When do you come ? I will be in my office tomorrow Want to visit ? Would any of your girls like a Spa treatment=? Or you ? I have a workshop on Tuesday from 9 am to 1 =M Would you and your companions like to attend=as my guests ? Let me know25

25 November 2017. After a silent retreat, Chopra sent Epstein a long message that begins “It was extraordinary / I came to know death / It has not left me / I sat later for 10 hours in stillness - presence with no constructs , =o stories . / I have no conflict , no quarrels , no judgement , no clinging , no des=re to prove , convince , cajole or seduce.” It ends, after an itinerary running through Boston and Harvard and a new book he calls Meta Human: “European tour in April You should come to my 2 day workshop with your girls in Switzerland in=Zurich - small village in suburbs … Will be fun”. Epstein’s whole reply, five hours later, was “see you in new york wed-fri?”7

30 November 2017. At 6.02 a.m. Chopra wrote: “Just seeing this / My day was crazy / Had last min interview with Washington Post re insanity of World / Today in NJ / Did you get invitations for Wall Street event on Friday / Come as my guest with anyone if easy / Love”. Epstein answered at 7.09: “im in florida but i would like to send two girls.” Chopra replied: “Please send their names to me and I will put their names as my guests”.26 The sheet carrying all three was opened at the image. Two hours later Chopra’s assistant wrote to Groff under the subject “Dec 1”: “Deepak shared that Mr. Epstein has two friends that he would like to invite to tomorrow afternoon’s program. And of course, they will participate as Deepak’s personal guests. Could you please share with me their names?” Chopra wrote to Epstein and Groff in the same minute: “Need names ASAP / Will send directions”. Groff answered, “Jeffrey stepped into a meeting…I dont think I can get an answer”, then an hour later, “I have one name:” followed by a black bar, and “She will bring her friend..waiting to hear back from her the friends name!”26 The name the producing party covered is not supplied here from any source, and neither guest is named or described on this page. No document read for this page shows that either woman attended.

A fifth instance is a text message of 26 June 2018, whose whole body is “Your girls will love this” above a video link.27

The register was not confined to invitations. On 8 March 2017, in a thread about an Edge.org essay, Chopra wrote:

Cells are human constructs No such thing ! Universe is human construct No such thing Cute girls are aware when they make noises&n=sp;28

Epstein’s whole reply was “thnk god”. Chopra came back twenty-four minutes later: “God is a construct / Cute girls are real =A0”. Epstein answered: “so when the girl says oh my god. .=?”28 Both sheets were opened at the image; the damaged &n=sp; and =A0 are printed on the face.

The money

On 18 October 2017 Gratitude America, Ltd., Epstein’s foundation, drew cheque number 332 on Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas, payable to “Chopra Foundation” for “Fifty Thousand and 00/100”, $50,000.00. The address block under the payee reads “Chopra Foundation / 2013 Costa Del Mar Road / Carlbad, CA 92009” and misspells Carlsbad. The memo line is blank. The cheque carries a handwritten authorised signature; this page does not identify the signer.2 This is the only payment to him or to any organisation of his that a document read for this page records. No document read here says what it was for, whether it was solicited, or what the foundation did with it.

A much smaller sum moved the same way. In May 2018 Chopra arranged a microbiome test kit for Epstein through the company Viome; his office asked where to send it, and Groff answered with Epstein’s Palm Beach house and asked how it would be shipped, “I want to alert the house…” Days later an Epstein office message warned Bella Klein: “Hi Bella…you will see an Amex charge for $399 …it is for “Biome testing” it is some sort of kit being sent to JE through Deepak Chopra from CA…it could state it is a “micro biome kit”…not sure…but wanted you to know..I gave the CC # today to Deepak’s office.”29

Epstein also traded on the connection. In a text message to his physician Bruce Moskowitz he wrote: “Deepak chopra my buddy is being approached by the major insurance companies rf wellness . Do you think your guy as you said he was smart might find it interesting”.30 And on 18 July 2017 Chopra wrote to a group about an autistic savant study, “Let me know bare minimum for funding an initial study including a collaboration with Prof Ramachandran. / I’m pursuing Templeton Foundation”, the second line carrying no terminal mark.31 No document read here shows what became of that application.

What he sent him

Three forwards show what kind of access Epstein had.

1 July 2017. Chopra forwarded Epstein, under a covering line reading only “FYI”, a letter he had written that afternoon to the philanthropist Alice Walton, copying Raymond Chambers, proposing what he called “a dream project”: “The Mind-Br=in Institute for Higher Consciousness and Global Leadership could be a las=ing legacy.” The letter opens by saying he has been doing “deep reflection and i=trospection on how I might want to spend the remaining and final chapters =f my life”, names Henry Kissinger’s Harvard summer school as its model (“Henry Kissinger quietly became the center of a global n=twork of leaders by running a summer school at Harvard that brought everyone together around him”), and proposes “an academy of top figures who convene twice a y=ar”.32

3 September 2018. He forwarded Epstein, marked “FYI - private”, the internal strategy memorandum “Vision for Chopra Global” that he had sent three days earlier to Alice Walton and four colleagues. It sets out five lines of business, a pyramid analogy, a hundred-day plan, and a target of making his own conference “the Davos of Integrative Health & Consciousness”.33

23 October 2018. He forwarded Epstein an invitation to speak at the Misk Global Forum in Riyadh on 14 and 15 November, an event the invitation describes as “Chaired by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman”. Chopra’s covering message is a single character: ”?” Epstein answered three minutes later: “tricky. I dont think you can go. . how are you? the upside vs the down , not there”. Chopra’s reply, seven minutes after that: “ok —going to Science and Non Dua=ty conference San lose”.8 Neither man says on the sheet why it was tricky. The invitation arrived three weeks after the killing of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi on 2 October 2018, which is a fact from the outside record and not from any sheet read here; no document read for this page connects the two, and this page does not.

He also sent smaller things. On 6 September 2017 he sent Epstein a link to a MarketWatch column under its own headline, “Here’s the guru Donald Trump needs right now”.34

December 2018, and the last lunch

On 8 December 2018, by text, Epstein wrote: “Templeton foundation described me in a meeting yesterday. As the misunderstood playful genius, girls were enraged”. Chopra answered: “Happy to hear / Be careful re any publicity - good or bad”. Epstein: “I despise it all”. Chopra: “Best attitude - indifference”.35 Read at the image.

The last documented contact is Wednesday 3 April 2019. Groff wrote to Chopra’s office at 9.23 that morning: “Morning! Reconfirming Deepak will come see Jefffrey today, Wednesday April 3, at 12:30 PM for lunch”, at Epstein’s house at 9 East 71st Street. The office’s own thread that morning asked Epstein what he wanted served, with the reminder that Chopra is vegetarian; Epstein’s answer was “he can have soman spinach pie”. At 5.56 that evening Chopra sent Epstein a message headed “Click on Apple I tunes below”.10 That is three months and three days before Epstein’s arrest on 6 July 2019. No document read for this page records any contact between them after it.

What the outside record says, and his answer

In February 2026, after the Justice Department release, reporting by CNN, Voice of San Diego, the Daily Beast and others set out the messages above. On 4 February 2026 Chopra posted a statement on X. He wrote that he was “deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case”, that he “unequivocally condemn[s] abuse and exploitation in all forms”, and: “I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity.” He added that some past exchanges with Epstein “reflect poor judgment in tone”, saying “I regret that and understand how they read today, given what was publicly known at the time”, and that his “focus remains on supporting accountability, prevention, and efforts that protect and support survivors.”14 That statement is an outside source, not a document in the release, and it is reproduced here as his answer and not as evidence of anything else.

What this page does not establish

It does not establish that he knew anything of Epstein’s conduct. The documents read for this page contain no reference by either man to Epstein’s 2008 conviction, to his registration, or to any allegation against him. That is an absence in the sheets read, not proof of ignorance, and it cuts no particular way.

It does not establish that anyone travelled on any of the invitations. Israel in February 2017, the Carlsbad workshop and spa offer in June 2017, the Zurich workshop in April 2018 and the Wall Street programme on 1 December 2017 are all invitations. A booking is not an attendance. The only event in this file that a document closes is the Skeptic Magazine evening of 27 September 2017, which Chopra’s own message the following morning thanks Epstein for attending.

It does not name the two guests of 1 December 2017 and does not describe them. One name was supplied to Chopra’s office; the producing party covered it, and nothing here reaches it from any other copy or any other source. Whether either woman went is not shown.

It does not say what the $50,000 was for. The cheque’s memo line is blank. No covering message, request, acknowledgement or accounting for it was located.

It does not close the Templeton application for the savant study, or show that the Mind-Brain Institute, the psi experiment or the Krauss dialogue ever happened.

Two episodes are withheld by editorial choice, and the withholding is recorded so that the record shows a decision and not a gap. The first is an exchange of August 2016 in which a correspondent reported to Epstein what this subject had suggested for a named living third party’s health. This wiki does not join a named person to a consultation or a protocol, and that is the whole of the reason. The second is a text exchange about a woman whose name the producing party covered in every place it appears, and who is not identifiable from these sheets. Outside reporting has published that exchange; this page does not reproduce it, because nothing in the documents establishes who she was, and because she cannot answer. Neither withholding is a statement that the material is unimportant, and both are put to the editor.

Contact values are withheld for everyone. No telephone number, e-mail address or fax number is reproduced on this page for any person, whether or not the producing party covered it. The Carlsbad street address in his signature block is a business address of his organisations and is reproduced; no residential address of his appears in the documents read here.

Outside reporting describes one exchange this page could not locate. Voice of San Diego reports a November 2016 message in which Epstein sent Chopra a newspaper article about dropped civil cases and Chopra asked whether cases had been dropped against him. No document answering that description was found in the material read for this page, and nothing on this page rests on it.

No link below asserts a relationship beyond what the cited sheet shows.

  • The man who introduced them: Barnaby Marsh, who brokered the meeting over seven months, sent the two men each other’s addresses, and a month later ran a press check on Chopra.
  • The quarrel that started it: Lawrence Krauss, the physicist Chopra told Epstein in his first message he “would love to engage with” in a public dialogue, and about whom Epstein offered a “krause counseling session”.
  • The money: Gratitude America, Ltd., which wrote the $50,000 cheque; Bella Klein, warned about the $399 card charge.
  • The office: Lesley Groff, who booked almost every meeting cited above and handled both guest lists; Janusz Banasiak, the driver sent to Miami in February 2017.

For each document, its own first sheet is taken, meaning the row with the lowest page number for that identifier, and the first twelve non-blank lines of it. The first line matching a sender label anchored at line start is found, over the damaged forms of From: this extraction produces; the sender value is the remainder of that line if non-empty, otherwise the next non-blank line unless that line is itself a header label, in which case the document is declined. Only the first sender label is used, so a quoted header lower on the sheet can never supply the sender. Recipients are taken at the same grain from every To:, Cc: and Bcc: line in the same window.
