| Range of documents cited here | 26 August 2009 to 12 September 201789 |
| Size of the file | 996 documents on the exact phrase "Lisa Randall"; 1,013 over the union of the four damaged forms established below. The bare surname is not a measure of her: "Randall" returns 1,435 documents and carries at least three other people104 |
| How much of it is her own writing | 250 of the 996 — 25% — carry her name in the top-level sender field of the document’s own first sheet, under the rule published below. Those 250 resolve to between 130 and 156 distinct messages, the release holding multiple copies of most of them. The other 746 name her without her having written them1 |
| When | Of the 224 sender documents carrying a parsable top-level timestamp, 206 — 92% — fall between 2009 and 2012, and the peak year is 2010. Epstein was released to home detention on 22 July 2009, under a twelve-month term of community control11 |
| Covered elsewhere on this wiki | Epstein’s message of 29 November 2014, “arrived with Reid Hoffman and Joi Ito in tow”, was sent to her and is quoted at Reid Hoffman. | Not established here | Any payment between her and Epstein in either direction; whether the daughter of Jes Staley was ever spoken for at Harvard, or attended the January 2010 summit; whether the March 2006 symposium account is accurate as to her attendance; anything about her conduct beyond what the documents cited here record |
Lisa Randall, a Harvard theoretical physicist who signs herself in this correspondence “Frank B.Baird, Jr., Professor of Physics”, is a large correspondent in the released Epstein files whose traffic is, on its face, social. The subject lines she writes under are Re:, ?, -, hello and Re: Dinner. What the bodies, the office calendar and the aviation paperwork show is not social. Within five weeks of Epstein’s release from jail in 2009 she had brought him into her own career and funding negotiation; within nineteen weeks she had agreed to help place the daughter of one of his friends at a physics summit; a year after that she agreed to speak to someone about the same young woman’s application to Harvard’s theoretical-physics PhD programme, and followed it up three months later unprompted. In April 2011 she met him at a Harvard institute at a time his office had booked. In November 2014 she asked him for two seats on his aircraft off Little Saint James, his office took the passenger details, and his chief pilot booked her a car at the other end. Nothing on this page is a finding of wrongdoing. She is not accused of anything, and no document read for this page suggests she knew of any offence.
Identification: one name, and the forms that reach her
Do not key any figure on the surname. "Randall" returns 1,435 documents and the forename distribution behind it is mixed: the release also carries Rod Randall, a venture investor; a Jeff Randall; and an Alexander Randall. The exact phrase "Lisa Randall" returns 996 documents, and that is the population every figure on this page is drawn from unless it says otherwise.10
Nor is the forename a measure of her. "Lisa" is a common name in this corpus and reaches, among others, Epstein’s own household and office correspondence; no count on this page is keyed to it. The forename does matter for one thing, and only one: his office and his correspondents address her as “Lisa” in the body: “Hi Lisa…what time would be good for you today for Jeffrey to give you a call?”. But every such sheet read for this page also prints the full name in a header or a subject line, so the full-name search reaches them.12
Four damaged forms each add documents outside the base set, and every figure below counts documents, not pages or mentions:
| form | documents | outside the "Lisa Randall" set |
|---|---|---|
"Lisa Randall" | 996 | — |
"Lisa Randal" | 21 | 10 |
"Lisa Randa" | 13 | 5 |
"[email protected]" | 27 | 1 |
"Usa Randall" | 3 | 1 |
| union of the above | 1,013 |
All seventeen added documents were opened and every one is this subject. Fourteen are messages Epstein sent to her whose To: line the extraction truncates mid-surname (“To: Lisa Randal”, “To: Lisa Randa”), and two of those carry the only surviving text of the November 2009 request set out below. Sixteen further forms were probed and returned nothing; the nulls are listed in the footnote, because a null is a measurement. The desk’s ocr_variants.py generates none of the four forms that did gain documents.4
How much of this file is her own writing
A count of documents naming a person is not a count of what that person did. The rule below is stated completely enough to be reproduced, and the count it yields is not the desk tool’s count.
The rule. For each of the 996 documents take the document’s own first sheet, the row with the lowest page_number for that identifier, and its first sixteen non-blank lines. Find the first line whose start matches a sender label, over a fifteen-form set covering the damaged renderings of From: this extraction produces, Fromm: and Fran: among them, followed by a colon, semicolon or full stop. The sender value is the remainder of that line if non-empty; otherwise the next non-blank line, unless that line is itself a header label, in which case the value is absent and the document is declined. Only the first sender label is used, so a quoted header lower on the sheet can never supply the sender. Her name inside that value is matched case-insensitively as lisa + at most three non-letters + ra/na + ndal; or randall, lisa; or lrandall; or randall@physics. The full label set and name pattern are in the footnote.
The result: 250 documents, 25% of the population. 876 of the 996 yield a top-level sender value; 81 carry a sender label whose value is barred or blank; 39 carry no sender label on the first sheet at all. Of the 876, 250 carry her name. The other 746 of the 996 name her without her having written them: they address her in a To: or Cc: field, or they name her in a body, a schedule, an attachment line or a list, and they include Epstein’s own messages to her, his office’s notes about her, and the schedules and lists described below. That remainder is not split further here. A To:/Cc: capture rule would have to be published to the same standard as the sender rule before either half of it could be counted, and this page publishes only the rule it can state completely.1
The figure is stable and the tool’s figure is not used. Re-running the same rule over windows of 8, 12, 16, 24 and 30 non-blank lines returns 250 every time. act_rate.py is not cited anywhere on this page: it has been shown to err in both directions on this desk, understating one subject by 122 documents and overstating two others by 56 and 79, because a single inline quoted header in the first 2,500 characters routes a stacked top-level header down the wrong branch, and the sign of that error is set by the population’s layout mix. This population is 499 stacked, 377 inline, which is precisely the mix that fault bites hardest.1
250 documents are not 250 messages. 224 of the 250 yield a parsable top-level date and time; those 224 carry 130 distinct timestamps, and 65 timestamps are shared by 159 documents between them. Adding the 26 undatable documents at worst one-for-one, the 250 represent between 130 and 156 distinct messages. The release holds five copies of some of them.1
She is not a press subject, and the standard press test misfires on this population in the usual way. Across all 996 first sheets, eight news- and court-document markers (SECTION:, BYLINE:, LENGTH: n words, FINAL EDITION, Reprinted, Copyright YYYY, TRANSCRIPT, UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT) return 0 of 996 each. The one pattern that fires is All Rights Reserved, at 127 documents, and the narrower pattern copyright -all rights reserved fires on the same 127, so every one of them is Epstein’s own e-mail confidentiality footer and not a press marker. A measurement that reported this population as 13% press-bearing would be measuring a boilerplate signature. This is a correspondence file.13
2009: the year of the release
Epstein was released from the Palm Beach County jail to home detention on 22 July 2009, under a twelve-month term of community control, as set out at the 2008 non-prosecution agreement. The first document on this page is dated five weeks later.11
On 26 August 2009 at 10:23 pm she sent a message under the subject “Advising” to a group. The sheet’s To: block prints Elon Musk, [email protected], Nathan Myhrvold and Charles Simonyi, the last of them twice, among several recipients the producing party has blacked out. She wrote:
As you now know I’m deciding among a few nice places that have approached me and had discussed with John some of the pros and cons. I hadn’t actually read the letter when he sent it( or known that he would send it) but based on the responses I do think there has been some misunderstanding and I certainly hadn’t intended to approach everyone with all this information.
I am trying to be sure I will have a group in my field to work with during the (hopefully) exciting scientific times in the next few years.
What I had told John was that it seemed odd to have the decision made by an NYU donor. Although the Caltech group has tremendous potential to be one of the major LHC research centers, it is small and I wanted to investigate whether that was a given or could be remedied by some external support so that I could create a truly great research environment, which is why I had contacted both John and Charles.
This sheet is the page’s clearest instance of the extraction destroying a recipient list. The text layer returns only “Elon Musk” and a mangled rendering of Epstein’s address, and then runs straight on to the salutation: Myhrvold and Simonyi are deleted and the gap is closed. They are on the image. No surname is printed anywhere on the sheet for “John”, and this page supplies none.8
The next day she asked Epstein for advice about money for physics. On 27 August 2009 at 6:54 pm:
Hi Jeffrey Thanks for the advice. Good talking to you. Two things I should have asked: What do you think of Harvard’s financial situation and how long before they are out of it? Where will physics be? I sense it’s not such a priority now. Second, I do want to follow up on the bad physicist thing. I let you slip out nicely but really -where is that coming from? I have a pretty solid track record-can’t be my collaborator every time- First more relevant I guess but second could be relevant if ▮ isolated and need to attract people or resources. So let me know if you have another minute free-Lisa
The block in the last line is a short redaction bar on the sheet and nothing is supplied for it.14
On 10 September 2009 he sent her his programme. Under her subject line “do you drink coffee? or hike?” she quoted him back in full. Epstein had written, “to give you and idea of what i am thinking / I intend to fully fund the following gatherings ( meetings with lots of interaction hikes coffee. cross pollination ) over the next year”, and listed seven: “Evolutionary Code dynamics”, “Synthetic General Intelligence”, a “Conference on Power — Its definition political financial, intellectual , physical, includes reputation, awe, trust, deception, reciprocity”, “The World Financial system”, “The power laws”, “Why happiness is overrated” and “Music and the Brain”. Under “core participants” he named, among others, “martin novak”, “church”, “nathan wolfe”, “lander”, “stodden”, “minsky”, “george mitchell”, “ehud barak”, “tony blair”, “larry summers”, “bloomberg”, “nathan mryvold”, “hillis”, “lloyd”, “jes staley”, “jamie dimon”, “henry jarecki”, “murray gellman”, “Geoffrey west”, “howard gardner”, “richard axel” and “gerald edelman”. The list prints with irregular gaps and stray commas, as reproduced; read at the image, no black bar falls anywhere inside it. Her reply is warm and slightly wary: “it was very interesting to talk last week / seriously you genuinely had different things to say than most others i’d talked to and i enjoyed it. / perhaps however i should have defended physics a little more.”15
Three weeks later she told him what she thought of one of his views. On 5 October 2009, under the subject “follow up thoughts”:
I also think it’s interesting the contradictions. New views on research but you’ll say women haven’t done anything so not worth supporting. You could apply that reasoning to anything new. But you don’t.
Anyway good of you to try to qualify your remarks at the end. I do feel a bit like a spool of thread however.
Epstein’s reply that afternoon, quoted on a copy of the same exchange, is “and you criticize my grammar”.16
The two favours
Twice, a year apart, Epstein asked her to open a door at a physics institution for the same young woman, and both times she said she would try.
November 2009: a place at a summit. On 6 November 2009 Epstein wrote to Jes Staley under the subject “your daughter can go”, forwarding an invitation to a two-day physics retreat to be held on 8–10 January 2010 at SpaceX, Caltech and a Hollywood hotel, whose circulated list of “Invited Participants” includes her own name. At 12:36:13 −0500 on 30 November 2009 he forwarded that message on to her:
are you going? i would like the daughter of my friend to attend her name is [the daughter of Jes Staley],, who should i talk to. or could you assist?
She answered three minutes later: “I am going. And I can try to help.” Epstein came back that evening: “who is organizing.. is it diamandis?” The doubled comma is the sheet’s own. The three minutes is the interval between his header stamp and the “12:39 PM” attribution printed above her reply on the copy that carries it; the attribution has no zone, both read as the same clock, and neither is converted here.17
November 2010: a Harvard PhD application. A year later, at a quoted, zoneless 3:40 am on 19 November 2010, Epstein wrote to her:
[Jes Staley’s daughter] is thinking of applying to Harvard for Theoretical Physics phd program . Are you the person she should use as a contact.. ITs important to me.
She replied at 12:59:12 +0000 the same day:
I’m not officially on admissions committee but of course we’re a small group and I can talk to someone. I don’ t think we can bend things much but if there is some way you think I can help let me know.
The stray space in “I don’ t” is on the sheet. That the applicant of 2010 is the young woman of 2009, and that she is Jes Staley’s daughter, is this page’s reading and not a statement either document makes: the name his 2010 message carries has the same surname as the 2009 one and a forename differing by a single letter.18
She followed it up three months later, and he had not asked her to. At 16:08:55 +0000 on 17 February 2011, quoting his November request back at him, she wrote: “She didn’t apply in the end. Do you know what happened? / Let me know if you want to catch up.”19
The beneficiary of both favours is the daughter of Jes Staley, and she is a party to neither. In nothing read for this page does she write, ask, attend or apply: she is the object of two men’s sentences and takes no act the record shows. Nothing further about her is set out here, and no document read for this page shows whether she was ever spoken for, whether she attended the January 2010 summit, or why the Harvard application was not made.
The meetings his office booked
From 2010 the relationship runs through Lesley Groff, and it leaves a calendar.
The subject line Jeffrey Epstein is his office’s, not hers. When Groff wrote to people on his behalf she headed the message with his name, so every document in this population that Randall sent under the subject Re: Jeffrey Epstein is a reply to his office about a meeting or a call. None is a discussion of him. There are ten, over the 250 sender documents, under a subject rule published beside the sender rule and stable at windows of 16, 30 and 60 non-blank lines, and an eleventh under the variant Re: Jeffrey Epstein 1:00 Sunday?, which is the “That works.” sheet quoted below. Requiring the Subject label to carry a colon gives nine, because it drops a sheet on which the label stacks above its value; no rule gives eight. The ten resolve to four distinct messages, the release holding six copies of one of them. The family is larger in the thread than in the count: four of its members, two from December 2012 and two from April 2012, carry a sender label whose value is barred or blank, so they fall in the 81 and are outside the 250, and outside this tally, by construction.20 The first is a circular of 22 June 2010, “What are your summer plans? Can you bring me up to speed on what you are working on?”, sent to a copy list including Mark Jude Tramo, Victoria Stodden, Lawrence Krauss, Lee Smolin, Nathan Wolfe, Danny Hillis, Charles L. Harper Jr. and Randall, and already described at Charles Harper. Randall answered that afternoon: “I’m free now if Jeffrey wants to talk-”, set out her summer movements, and added that “Most interesting perhaps to him is possible new idea for dark matter creation from baryon (matter) asymmetry. I can explain -”. Epstein’s reply, three days later, is one word: “sat?”2122
A call in the diary, October 2010. An office day-sheet for Saturday 23 October prints “12:30 Call with Marty Weinberg (he will call you) / 1:00 Call Lisa Randall at ▮ / 1:15-1:30 Call George Church”. Her message that afternoon reads: “I know. You were on the hot seat this time. / Still—calling back?”2324
The meeting, 17 April 2011. Epstein’s office built a Harvard itinerary for 15–17 April 2011 (Larry Summers’ home on the Saturday morning, Martin Nowak at 1pm, the Minskys at 4pm) and on “SUNDAY April 17”: “9:30am Appt w/Howard Gardner … 1:00pm TENATIVE appt w/Lisa Randall … 2:00pm Appt w/Shing-Tung Yau … 3:00pm Appt w/Marty Weinberg”, each entry followed by a black bar. Four days earlier she had written back to Groff: “I’m afraid I can’t organize anything as I’m pretty fully booked until I return. / If you tell me who Jeffrey has in mind I can see what I can do. … But definitely can make a bit of time to see him.” On Friday 15 April the office put the time to her: “will the 1:00 on Sunday at Martin’s institute work for you? / 1 Brattle Square, Suite 6 / You must call Sue upon your arrival to the institute so she can come down and let you in”. At 12:56 pm on Saturday 16 April she replied, in two words: “That works.”252627
It happened. At 10:45 pm on Sunday 17 April she wrote to him: “Hi there / Good to see you. Next time I’ll finish the dark matter story. / Btw if you want a galley let me know and send an address.” He asked for one; she wrote back, “Send an address.”2829
Two months later her contact details were in his travel pack. The itinerary for a 16–18 June 2011 Harvard visit ends with a page headed “CONTACT DETAILS OF PEOPLE AT HARVARD” listing Howard Gardner, Lisa Randall, Jeff Gore, Shing-Tung Yau and Henry Rosovsky. Read at the image, every one of the five names is followed by a black bar and the values are withheld. The extraction deletes all five bars and closes the gaps, so the text layer returns a bare list of names and nothing else; that is the second time on this page the same fault has been demonstrated at the image, and it is why nothing on this page counts or names from a list without rendering it.7
A decline, March–April 2012. On 22 March 2012 Groff wrote: “Jeffrey is planning a trip to Harvard on Sunday April 15th and is wondering if you might be available to meet with him?” She answered the same evening: “At this point I’m scheduled to be out of town. But do tell him to be in touch when he likes. Its been a while”. Groff came back on 10 April; she held, “I’m afraid ill be away. But I look forward to catching up soon”, and closed, “Apreciated. Plans do change”.3031
A chased telephone call, December 2012. On 18 December 2012 Groff asked what time would suit “for Jeffrey to give you a call”. Randall: “Driving so lets try in mext couple hours.” Groff, three hours later: “Jeffrey tried your cell twice…is there a better time for him to call?” Randall: “Thats weird. I was free and it was on. Lets try tomorrow morning”; then, “He did just get thru but too latE.” Groff the next morning: “did JE reach you this morning? Just want to make sure you spoke!” Three Google Calendar reminders in his office’s account across those two days carry her name in their titles.1232
And she is on his lists. An undated numbered list in his files headed “Science” runs to thirty-six entries and prints “11. Lisa randall”, and again at 31 the bare surname “Randall”. The entries that carry a forename are Ed Wilson, Martin Nowak, Roger Shank, Seth Lloyd, Marvin Minsky, Richard Axel, Victoria Stodden, Boris Nikolic and Nathan Wolfe; the rest print without one and this page identifies none of them; “Krauss”, “Smolin”, “Harper”, “Tramo” and “Churc” are among those. Read at the image, the list carries no redaction anywhere, which is stated because it was rendered before being described.3
The flight off the island, 28–30 November 2014
The best-documented thing in this file is a flight, and it is documented from the first message to the car at the far end.
At 23:52:45 +0000 on Friday 28 November 2014 she wrote to him, subject “hello”:
Hi there Just saying hello as I had a trip to the Caribbean and can see your island. Where are you these days anyway? And how are you? -Lisa
He answered, “i am on my way there .. where are you staying?”; she replied eleven minutes later, “Funny. I’m in St John’s. When are you there? / Also in Florida next week in case you happen to be there.” At 06:22:30 −0400 on Saturday 29 November he wrote the message that already appears at Reid Hoffman:
arrived with Reid Hoffman and Joi Ito in tow. . we are here until sun at 3. flying to boston you are welcome to hop on board
She took the offer, for two. At a quoted, zoneless 6:46 am the answer came back, “Thanks for the offer its actually perfect timing do you have room for two? / Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry”. Epstein: “yes, will need passport details please forward to lvjet copied on this email”. At 11:36:03 +0000 she closed it: “Thanks That’s great.”3334
His office then organised it. At a stamped 12:46 pm a member of his staff wrote to her, “our pilot Larry is asking if [the second passenger] has a visa…he says he doesn’t need the number he just wants to make sure he has one along with his passport for customs”; she answered at a stamped 5:47 pm, “Yes—he has a green card. / Please let us know too where we shoudl meet everyone.” Neither stamp carries a zone.35
She declined the island leg, and the office proposed it again after she had. At 20:19:01 +0000 on Saturday 29 November she wrote to Epstein, Ann Rodriquez, lvjet and Lesley Groff together. All four print by name on the sheet, their addresses barred:
Thanks for this. We actually have arranged for a ferry to take us directly to the Charlotte Amalie airport that should arrive by 2. If that’s where you leave from, would that be simpler for you?36
The two messages she was answering are quoted beneath hers on the same sheet, which is how they are placed before it: Groff’s ask to Epstein, “Lisa Randall would like to know what time and where they should meet you tomorrow for a ride back to Bedford. Please advise.”, and his instruction back, to bring her to the island first: “lisa sholud be picked up at 12 from cruz bay, brought to island . luggage run at 1. heli at 2”. Their attributions read “1:50 PM” and “3:07 PM” and are printed without a zone by the quoting client; neither is converted here.3738
Four hours and twenty-five minutes after the refusal, the island pickup was put to Epstein again. At 00:44:20 +0000 on Sunday 30 November Ann Rodriquez wrote to him: “Hey Bossman, Should Carlos pickup Ms. Lisa Randall from St. John and bring her to the Island tomorrow at 12pm?” Rodriquez was one of the four people the refusal was addressed to. Both of those two stamps carry an explicit offset, so the interval between them rests on no assumption about zones. Either the refusal did not reach her or it was not acted on; no document read for this page shows which, and none records an answer to her question.39
The flight flew, and the paperwork names her. Epstein’s own schedule for Sunday 30 November is headed “LSJ-BOSTON” and reads “3:00pm Depart LSJ / 5:30pm Arrive Bedford Airport (380 Hanscom Field, Bedford, MA 01730) / Worldwide Transportation Confirm #8303653 / 6:30pm Meet Martin at his Institute / 8:00pm Dinner at Martin Nowak office”, with a contact list naming Joi Ito, Reid Hoffman, George Church, Martin Nowak, Larry Summers, Danny Hillis, Josh Ramo and Joscha Bach. That morning his chief pilot Larry Visoski made an “Urgent change, Mr. Jeffrey Epstein Woodland at Boston Logan Airport signature flight support at 5 PM today”, giving the tail number N908JE, and the office added a second vehicle: “We need a sedan to meet up as well at Boston Logan… The 2 passengers also need to go to Cambridge.” At 4:46 pm Visoski put the two-car booking back to the chauffeur company to be confirmed:
Great just to confirm we have an SUV for Mr Epstein and a Sedan for Ms. Lisa Randall? TWO vehicles for out arrial?
No answer to that message stands on the sheet. The “Yes, all correct !!” printed beneath it is stamped 12:26 PM, four hours and twenty minutes earlier, and answers the reservations desk’s own question of 11:08 AM about whether the sedan was in addition to the SUV. The sedan was to take the two passengers on to Cambridge.4041422
What that establishes and what it does not. It establishes that she asked for and was given two seats on Epstein’s aircraft out of the U.S. Virgin Islands on 30 November 2014, six years after his conviction; that his aviation company took the passenger details; and that his office added a second car to his Boston booking for her, his chief pilot naming her on it. It does not establish that she set foot on Little Saint James. She asked to be met at the airport instead, and no document read for this page records which route she finally took. The office schedule and the pilot’s change also disagree about the destination airport, Hanscom against Logan; the change is the later document.
2013 to 2017
The traffic thins sharply after 2012. Eight of the 250 sender documents fall in 2014, one in 2015 and five in 2017, and they turn to announcements and small talk.
She kept him on her lists. On 30 September 2011: “this is just a reminder that I’ll be speaking at the 92 St Y this coming Sunday… In case you were wondering, [i]t’s a different talk than the one I gave in the planetarium.” On 28 November 2012 she forwarded him an invitation from Peter Thiel and Auren Hoffman to “Dialog 2014 — a two-day bipartisan retreat discussing how to change the world”. On 13 October 2015 he was on the undisclosed-recipients list of her book announcement for Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs, and two entries in his office calendar that autumn track the book: an RSVP reminder for a launch party on 2 December and, in the December day-sheet, “Reminder: Lisa Randall giving talk on Dark Matter & the Dinosaurs & the connections in the Universe at 7:30 Dec. 7 at the Hayden Planetarium.”4344454647
He was watching her name. In April 2012 he forwarded her a Google Alert on “lisa randall”, triggered by a press release headlined “Science Activist, Jeffrey Epstein, Holds a Conference of Nobel Laureates to Define Gravity” that lists her among attending scientists; her reply is “What does fun consist of? / For you?” and, later, “ok mr chatty / get in touch when you like”. A draft programme in his files for a September 2012 conference at the Mission Inn in Riverside and the ESRI centre in Redlands pairs her with Michio Kaku in the second morning’s opening session. Neither document establishes that either of them attended anything.4849
The last two documents in the file are from the same day. On 12 September 2017, a week after Hurricane Irma crossed the Virgin Islands, she wrote: “so how did your island fare in the storm?”, over the signature block “Lisa Randall / Frank B.Baird, Jr., Professor of Physics”. Later that day, to a mistyped address of his: “you might have to change your email address… / (or add a “u”)”.950
What this page does not establish
- No money. No document read for this page records a payment, a grant, a gift or a donation between Epstein and Randall in either direction, or to any institution at her request. The August 2009 message asks about “external support”; nothing read here shows any followed.
- No outcome for either favour. Nothing shows that she spoke to anyone at Harvard about Jes Staley’s daughter, that the daughter attended the January 2010 summit, or why the application was not made. Her own February 2011 message, “She didn’t apply in the end”, is the last word on it in this file.
- No island visit. She was invited, an island pickup was planned for her, and she asked to be met at the airport instead. Which happened is not established.
- No knowledge. Nothing read for this page shows what she knew about Epstein’s 2008 conviction or his conduct, beyond two of her own glancing lines: “Wow haven’t you had enough house arrest?” in July 2010, and, in December 2009, “Did you write anything? / Or were you just sharing your attorney-client privilege?”5152
- No public statement. No press item, interview or statement by her about Epstein appears in this release. The press-marker tally above is 0 of 996 on every marker but his own signature footer.

No link below asserts a relationship beyond what the cited sheet shows.
- The page that already named her, and whose account this page follows and extends: Reid Hoffman, which quotes Epstein’s message of 29 November 2014 to her. That page gives the 30 November arrival as Hanscom Field, from the office schedule; the pilot’s same-day change to Boston Logan, set out above, is the later document and the two are not in conflict.
- People named on sheets cited here: Jeffrey Epstein (the correspondent throughout); Lesley Groff (wrote the meeting requests and the circular); Ann Rodriquez (proposed the island pickup); Larry Visoski (booked and confirmed her car); Jes Staley (the recipient of “your daughter can go”); Martin Nowak (host of the April 2011 meeting and the November 2014 dinner); Lawrence Summers and Joi Ito (named on the same itineraries); Charles Harper (named on the June 2010 circular); Boris Nikolic and Marvin Minsky (items 10 and 5 of the “Science” list).
- Places: Little Saint James (“LSJ” on the 30 November 2014 schedule, and the island she wrote that she could see).
- Topics: Calendars and daily schedules, whose own text notes that appointment records establish only that meetings were scheduled or planned. That is why the April 2011 appointment is corroborated here by her own acceptance and her thank-you, and not asserted from the itinerary alone.

Fourteen of the documents cited below carry a footnote saying the sheet was rendered locally from the released PDF and read at the image for the writing of this page; each of those footnotes says so and gives the resolution. The remainder are cited from the text layer and are marked UNVERIFIED, and no claim about what stands on an unrendered sheet (a bar, a field, a name’s position) is made anywhere on this page from the text layer alone. Where a name, address or telephone line is blacked out by the producing party, nothing is supplied in its place. Personal contact values, private addresses and the identity of private individuals of no investigative bearing are outside this page’s scope.
Clocks. No page-wide zone is assumed. A time taken from a header that carries an explicit offset is printed with that offset wherever this page asserts an order or an interval from it. A time taken from a header or a quoted attribution that carries none, as with the Sent: stamps of this production’s Outlook renderings and the attribution lines written by whichever mail client quoted a message, is given as the sheet prints it and is never converted, because the interval between a header and its own quoted attribution has been shown on this desk to be a property of the quoting client rather than of the production. Every sequence asserted on this page therefore rests either on two explicitly zoned stamps, or on one message standing quoted beneath another on the same sheet, or on a stated comparison of clocks that the page says it has not converted.

The page carries no redaction of any kind, which is stated because this page renders anything list-shaped before counting or naming from it. No identification is made from any entry that prints without a forename, and the entries are not tallied by form here. Two names below the numbered run, “Samir Brahmashari” and “George Heilmeyer”, print in blue as corrections to entries in the paragraph above them. ↩ ↩2

The run’s heading quoted in this footnote is on p.1. The page is headed “CONTACT DETAILS OF PEOPLE AT HARVARD” and prints five names (Howard Gardner, Lisa Randall, Jeff Gore, Shing-Tung Yau, Henry Rosovsky), each followed by one or two solid black bars over the withheld values. Sent: Wed 8/26/2009 10:23:05 PM. EFTA02435936 p.1. Read at the image at 400 dpi. TheTo:block runs to five printed lines. The recipient names it prints are “Elon Musk”,[email protected][[email protected]], “Nathan Myhrvold” and “Charles Simonyi”, the last of these twice; the addresses beside them and several further recipient slots are blacked out by the producing party. The text layer of this sheet yields only the first two of those four names before running on to the salutation — Myhrvold and Simonyi are absent from it, and no gap marks where they stood. That is the fault this desk has proved four times and it is why the page renders anything list-shaped. Quotation reproduced with the sheet’s printed double spacing. ↩ ↩2 -

Quotation reproduced with the sheet’s printed line breaks collapsed and its double spaces kept, including “asked: What”, “Harvard’s financial”, “I let you slip out nicely”, “a pretty solid track record” and “if you have another minute”. E-mail, Lisa Randall to Jeffrey Epstein, Subject “do you drink coffee? or hike?”,
Sent: Thur 9/10/2009 12:51:24 AM. EFTA02436899 p.1. Read at the image at 400 dpi. Epstein’s programme and participant list are quoted inside her message under “Jeffrey Epstein wrote:”. The run is 2 sheets and her message of 27 August is quoted on p.2. On the image the participant list prints with the irregular internal spacing reproduced here and carries no black bar at any point; the only redaction on the sheet is a bar over her own address in the final quoted header line. The extraction of this sheet does not truncate the list: it returns it to its end at “gerald edelman ,”. Coverage for that, corpus-wide: the list phrase"differential geometrist"returns 30 pages in 29 documents, of which 27 run on to “gerald edelman” on the same page; of the other three, one carries the list across a sheet boundary and continues it on its next sheet (EFTA01818665 pp.1–2), and two are Victoria Stodden’s reply quoting the two words alone (EFTA00883358 p.1, EFTA00773586 p.1). No copy stops at “murray gellman”. What the extraction of this sheet does damage is the recipient address, which it returns as “Jeffrey Epsteinfieeyacation©gmail.com]”, and the numerals heading each group of participants, which it lifts out of line. The three further identifiers in this note are cited from the text layer only and were not rendered. ↩ -

Date: Mon, 30 Nov 2009 12:36:13 -0500. EFTA02032337 p.1. Read at the image at 400 dpi. The sheet prints, beneath his request, the forwarded header of his own message of “Fri, Nov 6, 2009 at 3:14 PM”, Subject “your daughter can go”, “To: Jes Staley” with the address barred. Her reply of 12:39 pm the same day, “I am going. The summit invitation, quoted on EFTA02527504 p.1, gives the dates “January 8,9,10 2010”, the venues SpaceX, Caltech’s Cahill Center and “the Andaz West Hollywood Hyatt”, and an invited-participant list that includes her name. Subject rule and tally, run 2026-09-12 over the 250-document sender set the rule above produces. The rule. On the document’s own first sheet, take the first line whose start matches
Subject, case-insensitively, optionally followed by a colon, semicolon or full stop. The subject value is the remainder of that line if non-empty; otherwise the next non-blank line, unless that line is itself a header label (From,Fromm,Fran,To,Cc,Bcc,Sent,Date,Subject,Importance,Attachments), in which case the value is empty. The optional colon is the same tolerance the sender rule uses and it is load-bearing here: this extraction drops the colon afterSubjectas readily as it drops the one afterFrom. Counters over the 250, at a sixteen-non-blank-line window: subject exactlyRe: Jeffrey Epstein10; the variantRe: Jeffrey Epstein 1:00 Sunday?1, making 11; subject exactlyJeffrey Epstein0. At windows of 16, 30 and 60 non-blank lines the figure is 10, 10, 10. Requiring the label to carry a colon gives 9, dropping EFTA02190387 p.1, whoseSubjectlabel stands on a line of its own above its value. The ten: EFTA00417119, EFTA00713907, EFTA00735889, EFTA01802731, EFTA01814034, EFTA01994264, EFTA02190387, EFTA02345566, EFTA02530350, EFTA02684572, each p.1. They resolve to four distinct messages by the firstDate:orSent:value on each first sheet: 22 June 2010 two copies (EFTA02345566 and EFTA01994264, the second placed by its body, its own header block being damaged); 25 June 2010 six (EFTA00713907, EFTA00735889, EFTA01802731 — whoseSent:value extracts as “Friday, June APPI” and which is likewise placed by its body — EFTA01814034, EFTA02530350, EFTA02684572); 13 April 2011 one (EFTA02190387); 22 March 2012 one (EFTA00417119). EFTA02190748, the variant, is a fifth message. The four members outside the 250: EFTA00398958 and EFTA00399131 of December 2012, and EFTA00415796 and EFTA00415798 of April 2012, each p.1, carry a sender label whose value is barred or blank and so fall in the 81. A fifth, EFTA00399147 p.1, yields a sender value of a single apostrophe — a value, so inside the 876, but not her name. UNVERIFIED, from the text layer: this is a measurement over extractions and no sheet was rendered for it. ↩ -

That the=marks are printed on the paper and are not an extraction fault, and that the names stand between redaction bars, are pixel claims and are taken from a different copy, EFTA02530296 p.1, read at the image at 400 dpi for Charles Harper and described there.
