For the "differential geometrist" you mention for the power laws gathering, I'd like to suggest David Donoho. He was my advisor and, along with Danny Hillis, the best scientific thinker I know. He is also a MacArthur genius grant awardee (at age 34) and is the most highly cited author in mathematics. As is common for the best academics he is not a self-promoter. He deeply understands information theory, shannon, and ran a hedge fund at RenTech for a couple of years about 4 years ago. In my work with him we studied power laws, especially in the context of intemet traffic. Much of his early work centered on robustness, which is also a way of understanding limitations of the normal distribution. His understanding of this area is very deep. http://www-stat.stanford.edu/-donoho/ - see especially his "reports" section http://news.stanford.edu/pr/91/910618Arc1292.html http://news-service.stanford.edu/pr/01/mathcite214.htrnl Victoria On 8/11/09 4:56 PM, "Jeffrey Epstein" <[email protected]> wrote: I intend to fully fund the following gatherings ( meetings with lots of interaction hikes coffee. cross pollination ) over the next year 1 Evolutionary Code dynamics.. a brand new field that encompasses, game theory, virus dynamics, (both computers and biological). , cryptography , and genetics. 2.
