EFTA00779086 is a three-page email thread in Data Set 9, Bates EFTA00779086 to EFTA00779088, arranging a meeting between Jeffrey Epstein and New Mexico Attorney General Gary King in Santa Fe on August 28, 2010. It runs from a message of August 20, 2010 written from the Attorney General’s office to a forward Epstein sent on the day of the meeting; the third page carries only the tail of the confidentiality footer.1

The earliest message in the thread was sent on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 1:05 pm to Epstein’s assistant Lesley Groff, under the subject “MEETNG WITH AG GARY KING IN SANTA FE,” the misspelling as printed. Its sender is shown in the header as “Wood, Elisa,” with the address redacted, and it is signed “Lisa Wood”; the document gives no title or role, and the contact block beneath the signature is redacted. It opens “Dear Leslie,” and reads:

Here are the arrangement we spoke about on the telephone just awhile ago -

AG King can meet with Mr. Ebstein at 3:30 p.m. on August 28th.

The message names the meeting place as Jinja Bar and Bistro in the De Vargas Shopping Center at 510 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, gives a telephone number for it that is redacted, and sets out two sets of driving directions, the first taken, she writes, off Yahoo maps, and a second that she says “makes more sense to me.”1

A second message from “Wood, Elisa [mailto:[email protected]],” as its header prints, sent at 3:08 pm the same day, adds a postscript, “AG King’s cell number is,” followed by a redacted number.1

Groff forwarded the thread to Epstein on Tuesday, August 24 at 3:52 pm, writing that she had sent “the below confirmation” to a redacted recipient and to “Brice” the previous week, and had wanted Epstein and a second, redacted recipient to have it as well. Epstein forwarded it again under a header timed 17:48 UTC on Saturday, August 28, the day of the meeting; that recipient is redacted.1

Context

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety had written to Epstein the previous day, August 19, that “under the current NMSA 29-11A you are not required to register with the State of New Mexico at this time for your 2008 Florida conviction of Procuring Person Under 18 for Prostitution,” adding that “while you reside temporarily in New Mexico you may be required to register per Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006.”2 On August 26 a message to Epstein reported that “Gary Kings assistant called” and that King could meet him at 4:30 pm rather than 3:30 pm.3 King told Reuters in March 2026 that he met Epstein once, at the restaurant, where they drank tea and Epstein expressed his condolences on the death of King’s father, and that they briefly discussed Epstein’s dealings with the Santa Fe Institute.4

Coverage

NM Political Report reported on February 23, 2026 that “a staffer in the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office reached out to Epstein and his assistant using official government emails” to arrange the meeting.5
