Daniel Siad, also recorded as Daniel Amar Siad and as Amar Siad, was a modelling scout who corresponded with Jeffrey Epstein from 2009 until days before Epstein’s arrest in July 2019, sent him photographs and descriptions of women he had scouted in Europe, north Africa and elsewhere, was paid by Epstein’s office by wire and by Western Union, and worked on commission for Jean-Luc Brunel’s MC2 agency.78910 He was found dead at his home outside Paris on 20 July 2026, before French investigators had questioned him.45 He is dead, so no response from him to anything published after that date exists and none can be obtained; his own statements while alive, and his lawyer’s since, are set out below. Appearing in the released files is not evidence of wrongdoing, and nothing on this page is a finding of any.
Identification and the search of the released files
The released files were searched under the variants “Siad”, “Daniel Siad”, “Amar Siad”, “Danielsiad” and the Skype handle “fashionhdtv”. Several hundred pages answer to those terms. No count of them is given here: the machine-read text of this release misses pages whose names it cannot read, so any figure would be a floor rather than a measure. The bare token “siad” also returns machine misreadings of the ordinary word “said”, including on a Palm Beach Police Department affidavit that has nothing to do with him, so the narrower variants were used for everything cited below. Every document cited on this page prints his name in one of those forms, and every page cited was rendered as an image before anything was quoted from it.
His name appears in the documents in three registers: as an email correspondent of Epstein’s writing from a blacked-out address, as “Amar Siad” in the beneficiary field of wire memoranda prepared in Epstein’s office, and as a named participant in Skype and WhatsApp threads recovered from Epstein’s devices.811
Scouting for Epstein, 2009 to 2018
The earliest message cited here is dated 19 April 2009. Under the subject “Sorry a bout the delay” he wrote to Epstein: “Here is one of the girls / Name [redacted] from Slovakia 17 Years old I will be in Bratislava the end of the week I will be doing a lot of scouting down there and techek Rep i send you the rest of the pictures”. Three photograph attachments are listed; the given name is blacked out in the message and in each attachment filename.12
Some weeks later he set out a scouting plan and its cost. On 14 May 2009 he wrote that he was trying to get a third party, whom he names and who is not named here, “to pay my fees to Slovakia ,teck repulikc and Polen and Hongararia to spend a month of june and Jully scouting in a small villages before the summer vacations”, and promised, “I will make you a great surprise when you come to Paris.” Epstein replied the same day with two words, “how much$”. Siad answered the following day that he would be travelling “with train and Buss and some times we have to take taxi”, that “some time ,I have to invite the parents for lunch or cafe”, and that with those costs “it’s going to be not less then 4000 euro”. He was in Kraków, said “Slovakia is the right place to be” with “one ladies waiting for me to see more then 45 models”, and would go on to Budapest.7
On 24 December 2009 he wrote from Koh Samui about a woman he said he could place “with jean luc in Miami”; Epstein’s reply, in full, was: “look at her passport to find her age?”13
On 21 January 2010 Epstein wrote to Siad, the entire body of the message: “you did not send wiring instructions also never send me any info on girls under 18, never ever.”14
On 16 July 2010, under the subject “Some of those girls I invited to ibiza”, he told Epstein that a friend had rented a house in Ibiza and that he had “invited a lots of girls from Russia all models because they will be doing the shootings down there for several magazines”, that another scout was “coming with 12 girls the first weeck 22th of Jully then 13 others the second weeck”, and that “I just called Jean Luc to see with him if he can come too that will be great to build this great network for Mc2”. Eight photograph attachments are listed. The other scout is named in the message and is not named here.15
The most detailed of these reports is dated 20 July 2014. Explaining a trip that had not produced what Epstein wanted, Siad wrote: “In This busyness I feel like fisherman some time I cache quick , some time no fish”. He listed women he had paid tickets and hotels for, all of whose ages he gives as 21 or 22, and continued: “,I really did good work for scouting in Scandinavia most of them will be ready to start with 2morrow at list 5 of them sixteen and seventeen will be ready for next year .But I can’t send you there pictures as know.” Two lines later: “The French her name is [redacted] she is fifteen her parents checked me out and they are very happy there daughter to start modeling .” The given name of the fifteen-year-old is blacked out in the copy cited, and no name, place, school or other detail identifying her or any other person mentioned in that message is reproduced here. Epstein’s messages in the same chain read “you will have the money monday, you can send the girls to toorw and copy me i will make sure things are good for you”, and in a later message he offered to send Siad two women, whom he named by first name only and who are not identified here.16
In a chain dated 8 and 9 September 2014, Epstein asked a one-word question, “age?”, and Siad replied: “26 but look she look 18 very interesting pers”.17
Most of the ages Siad reports in the messages read for this page are of adults: he describes women as 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25 and 26 years old far more often than otherwise. On 20 December 2016, asked “age” by Epstein, he answered “22 or 23 honestly I forget to ask her” and added, “She looks younger”.18 The instances above are the exceptions in what was read, and they are set out because they are what those documents say.
In a Skype exchange the export dates to 27 May 2017 he described a scouting trip in Morocco: he had met “more then 20 pers”, most of whom had promised to send him photographs, said the month of Ramadan meant he had been advised not to take pictures and to come back, and wrote that a friend he had introduced was “the head of Youth Students in Morroco who organizes all the cultural activities also he is joing us for scouting the best models , we are working on opning some kind of scouting agency”. In the same message he wrote: “we did meet several out side schools”. Two names in that message are blacked out in the copy cited and are not supplied here.19
Payments from Epstein
Money moved from Epstein to Siad by several routes over at least seven years.
Epstein offered it unprompted. On 2 January 2011 he wrote to Siad, in full: “where are you? do you need help? I can wire you some money”.20
Wire memoranda prepared in Epstein’s office over Darren Indyke’s name instructed banks to pay “Amar Siad”: EUR 10,000 on a value date of 30 April 2014 and EUR 5,000 on 23 January 2015, both to Handelsbanken in Stockholm; EUR 6,000 on 28 September 2015 to the same bank; and EUR 10,000 on 19 May 2017 to Emirates NBD in Dubai. Each memorandum names Bella Klein of Epstein’s office as the contact. No identifier printed on any of these instruments is reproduced here.8212223
Not every payment went through. In October 2012 Bella Klein of Epstein’s office wrote to him that “yesterday my transaction to Siad was stopped by Western union for security reasons” and set out three ways of getting the money to Siad instead. Epstein answered, “Have someone else go”. Klein reported later the same day that somebody else had gone to Western Union and sent cash, and that “After he received a security call from WU asking all the details about Daniel. The phone call was interrupted.”9 In May 2017 a wire to the Dubai account was returned; the Skype thread records Epstein telling Siad, “money was sent back from your dubai account will re direct to sweden”.24
The payments drew a bank’s attention. In May 2018 Deutsche Bank’s anti-money-laundering compliance function asked Epstein’s advisers to explain outgoing wires from an entity account, among them “3/29/2018, $25,000.00, AMAR SIAD”. Richard Kahn of HBRK Associates answered that the payment “WAS A LOAN TO A BUSINESS ASSOCIATE” and, asked separately for professions and sources of wealth, that “amar siad profession is photography”.251 Stewart Oldfield, a director of Deutsche Bank Wealth Management who handled the relationship, passed that on to the bank’s compliance function in his own words, “Amar Siad is a professional photographer. The other two are students,” and added that “when making one-off transfers to people, he and his finance staff have the flexibility to use any account they like that is funded”. Compliance had put the question because, on the bank’s own record, the account existed for “maintaining payroll and maintenance related expenses of Jeffrey Epstein’s private residence”, and it asked: “Why is client using this account to loan funds and pay school tuition?”26 The record cited here does not show what the bank did next.
An earlier compliance inquiry, dated 14 June 2017, listed two further outgoing wires to “Amar Siad”: $11,233.49 on 31 May 2017 to Handelsbanken and $11,214.50 on 24 May 2017 to Emirates NBD, and asked the same questions.27
Jean-Luc Brunel and MC2
Siad worked for Brunel on commission and the arrangement is documented, with Epstein copied on both sides of it.
On 23 January 2010 Siad wrote to Brunel, copying Epstein, asking him to “show us the invoice of the swift transfer to my bank because when I was in Bangkok My bank said they didn’t receive anything”, and adding: “I have few girls to who I promess MC2 agency I will send you the pictures … if you realy payed then you see I have a good reputation in this biz for 22years Mr Jean Luc”. The message quotes Brunel’s own of the previous day, signed “Jean Luc”, which sets out the terms: “When we have discussed your fees, 3.000 Euros monthly, you have told me that you were paying for your travel expenses … I have transferred you not one month, but two month fees (6.000 Euros).10,000 USD is an important investment for scouting.” Brunel complained that “You have done one trip of four days and I haven’t got any models for NY,” and proposed that at his next visit to Paris “we will discuss the future, and see if some girls can come to model in NY.”10
Epstein pressed the connection. On 28 February 2010 he wrote to Siad, in full, “i hope you have girls to show jl”. Siad answered the next day at length, complaining that he had been scouting at his own expense and had received nothing for three months: “I am very disapointed so thats the only words I can use right now / I am steel cool i will meet with Jean luc / He will meet some of my girls but under this situation right now it will be very difficult for me to move forward.” Epstein’s reply that day was about the mechanics of paying him: “i saw the transfer, does it make any sense to send money to your name in thailand and then have all the numbers im sure you will work it out and be frineds”.28
The relationship with Brunel broke down. In May 2015 Siad pasted into a Skype message to Epstein an email he said he had sent to Brunel in October 2011: “I am an honest person who does my living scouting , Jean luc is not an honest person, he has the worst reputation in Paris ,just few days a go he went talking bad a bout me and try to steel one my girls .” He complained that a woman he had scouted had been paid a fee out of which he had received no commission, said “Keep the Money”, and wrote: “I dont want anymore to have anything to do with Jean Luc MC2”.29 The amounts in that passage are a private third party’s earnings and are not reproduced here.
The 2016 Pottinger email, and a sealed exhibit
On 3 May 2016 the attorney Stan Pottinger sent an email under the subject “Contact Info Daniel Siad (from Brunel)”. Its body reads: “Yesterday I spoke of Daniel Siad, whom Jean Luc Brunel describes as a “scout” or recruiter of girls and/or women for J. Epstein. Attached to this incoming email from Brunel is the contact information he has for Siad.” The message lists one image attachment, and the one-page item filed at the next Bates number in the production is a photograph of a mobile telephone screen showing a contact entry headed “Daniel Siad”, with the telephone and email fields blacked out. That message was forwarded again on 6 December 2018; the sender and every recipient of the December 2018 forward, and the recipients of the May 2016 original, are blacked out in the copy cited, and nothing is supplied about them here.3031
A table of exhibits filed in United States v. Maxwell on 20 May 2021 lists, as Exhibit O, an “Email from Stan Pottinger to AUSA [redacted], cc’ing Brad [redacted] and Sigrid McCawley, re Daniel Siad (Mar. 3, 2016) (Sealed)”. The exhibit table dates that email 3 March 2016, two months earlier than the 3 May 2016 date on the Pottinger email quoted above; the two records disagree and neither is corrected here. The exhibit itself is sealed and is not in the release.3
Other business with Epstein
Not all of the correspondence concerns women. Siad introduced Epstein to executives of a French luxury house about the interior of an aircraft. On 17 November 2012, under the subject “Hermes”, he wrote to Epstein that “the answer is yes they can do the interior or the air plane”, and that he had met the project manager “whom you meet with me… who introduiced me to he’s his team”.32 Their names and titles also appear on Epstein’s own list of people to see in Paris the following month.33 In December 2011 he asked Epstein for help obtaining United States charitable registration for a Thai foundation, and Epstein replied, “yes,,, send me info and i will see what i can do”.34 He invited Epstein to connect on LinkedIn in November 2012, describing himself there as “Development Manager at World Fashion Channel”.2
Later contact
Contact continued after Epstein’s 2008 Florida conviction and to within days of his 2019 arrest. A Skype export recovered from Epstein’s devices records Epstein writing “Any interesting women” on 19 January 2019 and Siad answering the next day, “I will be in Paris after tomorrow”.11 The latest exchange between them found by the search described above is a WhatsApp message of 4 July 2019, in which Siad sent a link and the words “Happy four of July !”35 Nothing is taken from that extraction beyond the dated words quoted.
The French investigation, the allegations, and his death
The Paris prosecutor’s office opened an investigation on 18 February 2026 covering, in its own words, “charges of organised human trafficking and conspiracy to commit a crime”. Siad had been the subject of several complaints in France including allegations of rape. He had not been questioned by investigators.45
The former Swedish model Ebba Karlsson publicly accused him of rape and filed a criminal complaint in Paris in 2026; his lawyer told the Guardian that he denied the allegation. Karlsson had no dealings with Epstein.5 The lawyer Anne-Claire Le Jeune, who represents six women who made complaints about him, told the BBC that her clients “found the strength to break a particularly heavy silence” and that “It is deeply regrettable that the slow pace of the investigation resulted in his death before he could be questioned or taken into police custody, thereby depriving the victims of a crucial step in their pursuit of truth and justice.”4
The same BBC report carries an account from a woman it identifies only as Anya, not her real name, who said Siad had introduced her to Epstein: “It was a complete set-up,” she said, describing him as “essentially a professional trafficker.” No response from Siad or his lawyer to her account specifically is recorded; his statements addressing accusations against him in general terms, made before and after his death, are set out below.4
He was found dead at his home in a suburb north-west of Paris on the evening of Monday 20 July 2026. The Nanterre prosecutor’s office opened an investigation to determine the cause of death and said a post-mortem examination would be carried out. His lawyer told Reuters that he had died of a heart attack.46 These reports are dated 22 July 2026. Two days later, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office said the autopsy “did not reveal an immediate cause of death at this stage”, that investigators had found no signs of recent violence, and that further forensic tests, including toxicology, had been ordered.36 Later developments in the French investigation are outside the scope of this page.
After his death the Paris prosecutor’s office said the trafficking investigation was “continuing in order to identify all individuals potentially involved despite the termination of criminal proceedings against Daniel Siad”, and that he “was subject to special investigative techniques, notably telephone surveillance, but they did not provide enough evidence justifying his immediate arrest”.4 His lawyer said he had “never been prosecuted” and that “He is dead and he was innocent.”4 Reuters reported her as saying, “Daniel Siad never stopped proclaiming his innocence,” and that he had never formally been the subject of judicial proceedings, which in France follow a preliminary inquiry.6
Statements
He is dead, so nothing published about him after 20 July 2026 has an answer from him. The statements below are those recorded in the sources cited on this page.
- February 2026, in an emailed statement to the Guardian, on what he understood the introductions to be: “He had a big apartment where he used to organise all his meetings, including casting for models I recruited, for Victoria’s Secret and MC2.” He added that “The casting time would not last more than 10 minutes. I always left the place with the models immediately.”5
- Earlier in 2026, in comments broadcast on French television: “With time, one discovers that this individual committed atrocities; fortunately, I never introduced him to any minor or non-minor who was abused. I have nothing to reproach myself for.” He said Epstein had abused his trust and that he had not been “in a position to know that this man was dangerous”.5
- May 2026, to BFMTV, as reported by the BBC: “I have never raped anyone in my life.”4
- In a CNN interview reported by the BBC, on whether he knew the women were being abused: “I trusted him, I believed this guy is a professional person.”4
- July 2026, through his lawyer Ménya Arab-Tigrine, after his death: “He is dead and he was innocent.”4
Named in the House record
On August 31, 2026 Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky was recognised for one minute in the House of Representatives, under the heading “Bring Epstein Perpetrators to Justice.” He said that a year after the Epstein Files Transparency Act was signed “the government continues to withhold over 3 million files,” and that a second bill, the Epstein Files Transparency Act II, had been introduced. He then said: “We want perpetrators of these crimes to be investigated and prosecuted, men like:” and read a list of thirteen men and one woman; of Siad he said, “Daniel Siad, recently discovered dead in Paris.” He closed: “Perhaps hearing these names will shame the Department of Justice into delivering justice.”37 The other thirteen names are not reproduced here. This is a Member’s statement made under privilege on the floor of the House. It is not a charge, a referral, an indictment or a finding, and being named in it is not evidence of anything. The characterisation of the people named as “perpetrators of these crimes” is Massie’s own and is not adopted here. Siad had died six weeks before the remarks were made; no response from him to them is possible, and none is recorded. His lawyer’s statements of July 2026, quoted above, were made before the remarks and are not an answer to them.
