time as Attorney General in the first Trump administration. A Sure. Q Did you have any conversations about the Epstein case while you were Attorney General? A Any conversations? Q Yeah, just broadly. A Yes. Q Do you recall when the first one was? A I became -- at some point, and this was 6 years ago, but I became aware that the Southern District was conducting an investigation. I think it was a little bit before his arrest, but I can't be sure of that. It could've been around the time of his arrest, but I was aware that they were conducting an investigation. I don't recall specific discussions surrounding that. I could tell you what my understanding of what they were investigating, but I don't remember particular conversations. It's just my impression of what came up to me at that time. Q Can you describe your general understanding of what they were investigating? A So my understanding was that they were investigating whether he committed trafficking offenses, particularly focusing on his exploitation of young women, and they were trying to make that case against him. And, in that context, they were also looking as to whether any individuals were accomplices or complicit in that activity, either as facilitators -- as, you know, they ultimately went after and convicted Ghislaine Maxwell. And I think they were -- and I know they were also looking at whether there was evidence to charge anyone with participating in trafficking by having involvement with the trafficked victims. Q To the best that you can, can you describe the difference between what participating in the trafficking would be and what facilitating the trafficking would be?
