Some background: On April 11, 2015, the victims sent a Second Request for Admissions and a Second Request for Production to the Government, seeking to discover information relevant to various aspects of this case.0n June 18, 2015, the Government provided answers to some of the discovery requests. But with regard to the discovery requests concerning information about one of Jeffrey Epstein's defense attorneys, Alan Dershowitz, the Government refused to provide any information, other than to indicate that responsive documents appear to exist. The parties agreed that it would be appropriate to submit to the Court, via this motion to compel, the issue of whether the victims' discovery requests are "reasonably calculated to lead to discovery of admissible evidence."
