Mr. Band. I do not recall. Mr. Emmer. When did this visit to the town home take place? Mr. Band. You know, again, I appreciate it. I'm trying to be responsive and helpful. I recall him going to meet with Epstein at his house, and I staffed him on that visit. I have a vague recollection of, many years ago. Mr. Emmer. What was the purpose of the visit? Mr. Band. No idea. Mr. Emmer. We've had another member join. Can he please announce himself for the record. Mr. Lynch. Congressman Steve Lynch from the 8th Congressional District for Massachusetts. Mr. Emmer. Thank you. Mr. Higgins. Mr. Band, you were considered senior staff of President Clinton, for Bill Clinton from 2000 to 2011. Would you concur with that general assessment? Mr. Band. Yes. Mr. Higgins. Excuse me. In 1999, you were appointed as special assistant to the President and later deputy assistant to the President; in 2002 to 2011, you served as Clinton's chief adviser and counselor to the President. You spearheaded his post-Presidential operations and helped him launch the Clinton Global Initiative. That's a top -- a senior adviser. We would consider that in Congress like chief of staff or legislative director level -- Mr. Band. Right. Mr. Higgins. -- the top couple of people in the office. Mr. Band. He had a relatively small staff in the President's office.
