Mr. Emmer. Do you recall whether you ever sought to correct the representations made in the article? Mr. Band. It's certainly possible that I did. I just don't recall whether I did or I didn't. BY MR. HARNICE: Q Jumping back towards President Clinton's relationship with Ms. Maxwell, how would you describe -- how would you characterize their relationship? A To me, they seemed to be friends. Q Do you have any knowledge of President Clinton meeting Ms. Maxwell prior to that 2001 dinner, or early 2000s dinner? A I don't personally have any knowledge. I mean, obviously, I -- I'm sorry, not obviously. I've seen press reports that they visited the White House. But I don't have any other knowledge of anything personally that I knew. Those were, obviously, things that I've seen in recent times. Mr. Grant. So to be clear, you have no recollection of ever knowing of Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell attending any White House function during your time in the White House? Mr. Band. Again, based on public reporting, I was in college when that happened, so I don't know. Nothing that I knew about or was a part of. BY MR. HARNICE: Q You were in college when they visited the White House? A Based on public reporting of the dates and times that they went, I believe that I was in college at the time. Q Did you ever advise President Clinton to end his relationship with Ms. Maxwell?
