Mr. Grant. You said your conversations with Vanity Fair were over a long period of time. Three months? Six months? A year? Do you recall how long you were talking to Vanity Fair leading up to this article? Mr. Band. I'm sorry. I just don't recall specifically. I just remember it being a long period of time. BY MR. HARNICE: Q Just to touch quickly on that Vanity Fair article, stated that in January 2003, President Clinton visited Epstein's private Caribbean island. Mr. Band, did President Clinton ever visit Mr. Epstein's private island? A To the best of my knowledge, I have no information that President Clinton visited the island. Q This interview was only 6 years ago. Why did you say at the time that he did, in fact, visit Epstein's island? A You know, as I said, the conversations with the reporter took place over an extended period of time. I don't remember the specifics of those conversations. Q You don't recall anything that made you say that he did, in fact, go to the island? A I do not recall the specifics of those conversations as I sit here today, and, again, I understand and appreciate your mission and the ultimate trying to figure out whether or not he went to the island. I have no information to that effect, that he went to the island. Mr. Emmer. Were you concerned when the article was published? Mr. Band. I don't remember how I reacted to it. Again, I understand that -- it's still 5, 6 years ago, so it was some time ago. I don't remember how I reacted or didn't react.
