BY MR. HARNICE: Q Mr. Band, I want to thank you for your years of public service and for also coming here voluntarily to answer our questions today. Let's start by briefly just running through your background. Where did you attend undergraduate school? A The University of Florida. Q And when did you graduate? A 1995. Q And with what degree? A I had a major in English and a minor in ethics. Q Have you received any other graduate degrees since then? A I have. I went to graduate school at Georgetown University at night for a master's in liberal studies, and then I went to law school at Georgetown, also at night, receiving a law degree. Q And can you just briefly walk us through your background. I know that you started as an intern for the White House, but can you just briefly walk us through your career? A Of course. Upon leaving college, my first internship was actually for Republican Congressman Dan Miller from Sarasota, which is my hometown, where I was born and raised in Florida. After that, I was going to night school at Georgetown for, again, 2 years in a master's program and then 4 years in law school, so 6 years of part-time school. I interned at the White House -- in the White House counsel's office and later was hired as a staff assistant in the White House counsel's office and sometime in 1996, where I worked until the end of Clinton's presidency.
