burning conspiracies and falsities that are at the core of speculation about Epstein. I understand that, and I understand why people are upset, but I don't understand why people -- including members of this Committee -- would accept baseless speculation about me with regard to the facts and spin such ugly and vicious narratives that are demonstrably false. I have been very publicly sued three times by a single law firm by three women claiming ties to Epstein and making horrific allegations about me. This law firm, the Wigdor firm, brought these allegations to the Manhattan DA and the Department of Justice. I am told that there are intake forms that appear in the Justice Department files with heinous, fabricated allegations generated by this firm about me. The media raced to cover these sensational allegations, taking them at face value, without conducting any investigation or undertaking even minimal diligence. As a result of this torrent of lies and misrepresentations, I have received death threats, and my family now feels unsafe. For the first time in my life, I have had to deploy a bodyguard. But those lawsuits were demonstrably baseless, and those allegations were entirely fabricated. Of the three lawsuits that were filed, the first two have been dismissed with prejudice -- that means those lawsuits can never be brought again -- as the first plaintiff never met Epstein and her claims were wholly without merit. I never even met the second plaintiff.
