Q Well, can we agree that this is not the perspective of Jeffrey Epstein? It's clearly written from the perspective of somebody else. Is that fair? A You're asking me to speculate on this? Q So I will read it into the record then. It is, again, sent Thursday, July 18th, 2013, at 12:39, from Jeffrey Epstein to himself. However, the email reads, quote, "I have decided to resign my position effective immediately with BG3 and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I have not come to this decision quickly or without a great deal of thought. During the past few weeks, I have been caught up in a severe marital dispute between Melinda and Bill." I will stop reading there for a second. But given majority exhibit 1 which we were just discussing and the fact that Mr. Epstein and Dr. Nikolic were clearly discussing a marital dispute of some kind between you and Melinda, is it fair to say that this is a email that was intended to have been sent by Dr. Nikolic? A I don't know. It was never sent by Dr. Nikolic. That's all I bring to this. Q Sure. I can continue reading. "I have the greatest respect for my friend of 7 years, and I wish them both well. In my role as his right hand, I have been asked on multiple occasions and, in hindsight, wrongly acquiesced into participating in things that have ranged from the morally inappropriate to the ethically unsound and had been repeatedly asked to do other things that get near and potentially over the line into the illegal. Though it was kindly suggested that I make a transition to a new position after my 6 years of service and that Bill would, in his words, give me a generous package, I feel it would be dishonest to myself and my future from helping Bill to get drugs in order to deal with consequences of sex with Russian girls, to facilitating his illicit trysts with married women, to being asked to provide Adderall for bridge tournaments. I feel I owe it to my friends and future colleagues to admit a moral failure, to ask forgiveness, and to move on with my life."
