Subject: panel on the future of bitcoin/libertarian fest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qdr_Z3hrqQ& This is interesting to watch not because it's particularly insightful =bout the future of bitcoin but because it's a good way to understand =he community. A couple of points: 1) It's a libertarian fest.. 2) They are fairly unclear about what the value of bitcoin is. They =irst say it's the protocol to perform transactions(it's the 'internet' =f currencies), then it's the hashing power (so essentially this means =he 'social network'), and then the price cutting on the normal financial transactions 3) They keep saying that bitcoin will replace CC and exchanges for =inancial products, I don't think they understand that bitcoin at the =oment doesn't actually solve any of the problems these institutions are =ctually paid for 4) They got in this mindset that the only way to go about 'innovation' =s to build on top of bitcoin, and some of the stuff they mention is =verly complicated for no other reason than the fact that it's built on =op of bitcoin.. 5) They keep advocating for derivatives and such on top of bitcoin for =rice stabilization, if those ever exist and the market depth is big =nough I think that will lead to a collapse of it if anything. So my summary is: =ttp://cdn4.miragestudio7.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/ancient-aliens-gu=.jpg - sorry for the snark I've been watching videos of these people =he whole day.. On a serious note, I'm not sure whether this is good or bad but I don't =hink they know what they are doing (not from a technical POV, but from = 'larger scheme of things' one)=?xml version=.0" encoding=TF-8"?> <IDOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "- //Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version=.0"> <dict> <key>date-last-viewed</key> <real>0.0</real> <key>date-received</key> <real>1409081256</rea
