As I said, I've been working as a consultant with the UN for the past four years, which I could not have done without my degree - and that I completely owe to Jeffery. I've wanted to say thanks again so many times. Also, I was so busy with school at the time, that I think the painting I finally gave him was pretty bad, and I felt embarrassed about that. I was trying to be "smart" about it but in the end - well, not the best result. Anyway, my attempts to call or write failed, since the contact info for you guys seems to have changed. I was recently reminded of my time with the legal folks because the past few months I have found myself in this crazy legal nightmare for which I am ill-equipped. For the past six and half years I'd been living in the same rent stabilized apartment in Park Slope. But the landlord started trying to force out the lower paying tenants by a number of unfortunate means. Anyway, I was on vacation over new years when my landlord evicted me by shady means (even though I'd been paying all the rent and still had a valid lease!!) and took all of my possessions. Literally everything. What happened after that is kind of a long story, but there was a daily news article about it (along with an unflattering, exhausted looking photo, alas): I've been shocked by how unhelpful the city has been, and how unsympathetic the judge. My lawyer said she was "clearly corrupt". The landlord is quite wealthy and owns many properties as part of a larger inve
