Day two of my =rip was spent driving around the island, with Ms. Welch, and Mr. Lopez =f Garden Leaf Nursery, who has an =nteresting business of making arrangements with private land =wners to allow them to plant palms on unused =ections of their property in exchange for the up keep and =aintinence of the land owners =and. So we litterally went ALL =VER the island checking out 5 acres here, 1 acre here 1/2 acre there, =ome of them were in residential neighborhoods, some in the country =ide. The then took me to Mr Lopez's =ouse where he germinates most of the palm seeds and starts them in pots =hen they are moved to the field. They =ave a kind of sloppy, seemingly unorganized system, but it's a system =hat seems to be working. They didn't have anything over 7 years =ld so the heights were relatively low, and the variety was poor as =ell. Mostly Royal Palms, with some Christmas =alms and Prichardia's scattered among them. =nbsp; =/div> IMG_8501.JPG =/div> IMG_8502.JPG =/div> EFTA_R1_00096542 EFTA01779350
