Running back and forth in these halls is a confusing labyrinth of small rooms. The maintenance closet (I've circled) in the newer side of the apartment is 4 minute walk from the kitchen / dining area through the open areas, but as I suspected, it's actually very close physically. The newer side of the apartment came pre-wired (illustrated in blue), all terminating in the maintenance closet (circled), so it makes most sense if we can get the fiber internet connection to wire into there. We can then run an ethernet connection from that location, through the stairwell, in through the service hallway to the location where we have one powerline adapter (and AirPort Extreme) already set up. By plugging that AirPort Extreme into the main router in the maintenance closet, we then bring the basestations in the older side of the apartment onto the same internet connection, thus eliminating the need for two DSL modems.
