The fund, which was sponsored by the foundation, will invest in the development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics that address infectious disease and family health issues in the developing world, while also attempting to generate a financial return for investors. The fund is a unique example of foundations, governments, high-net-worth individuals, pharma companies and an investment bank coming together to support global health.
