During the Christmas holiday period you will appreciate that it has been difficult to take instructions. The article under complaint was generated by the MailOnline's New York office. We understand from them that the claims made about your client were made in open court. A number of US publications have reported those claims on the basis that they were made during a hearing. We note, for example, that the New York Daily News says the claims were 'included in a public transcript available in Manhattan Federal Court'. The same publication also makes reference to Laura Menninger, the attorney for Ghislaine Maxwell, also referencing the claim that Ms Ransome was directed to have sex with your client during a hearing on 7 November. We can see no mention in your letter of 21 December to the claims you have complained about being made in a court. Please could you therefore clarify your client's position in relation to whether the allegations contained in the MailOnline report were made under the protection of privilege. Yours faithfully, Martin Wood Group Legal Adviser Associated Newspapers Ltd Direct: Ext: 51573 51573 From: Harry Eccles-Williams [mailto: Sent: 21 December 2018 22:01 To: Geordie Greig DM Cc: DMG Media Editorial Legal Department James Libson < Humam Al-Jibouri < Subject: Urgent - Not for publication - Strictly private and confidential Importance: High External Sender Dear Sirs Please see attached.
