I have been on Gulfstream everyday this week, strongly and bordering on threatening them, that I need this plane in NY on the 15th for a highly important trip. Our main issue is corrosion on the upper Sponson metal plate that the UH gear structure attach point on upper surface of the wing. Gulfstream had to shoot two X-rays since the first did not pass,. currently Engineering in Savannah is reviewing (for Three days now) and trying to get a determination of continued ops with closer inspection intervals. The metal was cleaned of corrosion and remaining metal is under factory specs my millimeters, The right side was OK to return to service, even though its borderline under specs, per Gulfstream engineering. IF Gulfstream requires repair, we are done and will not meet the March 15th date. Gulfstream as brought in Technicians from Savannah and Appleton to help with remaining work to meet the March 15th departure. I really don't feel good about the March 15th date, but Gulfstream is aware and working three shifts thru the weekend to meet our departure date,.if not repair is need to sponson, Gulfstream THINKS we may make the 15th date,. I don't believe, Boeing is ready to fly as back up if your desire,. I'm sorry„„ and will keep on them,. !
