Hope is a difficult mathematical concept. . my view is that it reflects an internal pay off matrix not easily described. ie hoping the number six comes up on the die, increases only internal reward. if it happens , however it is clear that there is no probability change in the external..the mental object and its payoff is connected to the external by a personal mapping. Anyway - , more, later. ( a phrase that includes an internal understanding on both our parts) "hope" is not a strategy..): as soon as you guys are able, lets try to fix some dates. I m confident that both Ehud and you will be enlightened. On Sun, Jul 5, 2015 at 2:17 AM, Noam Chomsky < > wrote: Sounds like a very appealing guy, as well as obviously a very deep thinker. A welcome member of the tribe. There is interesting work on probabilistic models. Bob and his students have done important work on computational complexity, and he's the co-author of quite an interesting paper, which he may discuss with you, showing how efforts to deal with simple problems with probabilistic models of acceptability that eliminate grammar fail (by many orders of magnitude) as compared with the same models that integrate grammatical knowledge — not too surprising, apart from prevailing dogmas. Hope we can work something out with Barak. Lots of questions I'd like to ask him, especially about events that are only partially described in what archival records have been released.
