(And, to our friends who missed it, shame on you!) Gadgetoff 2009 was held in New York City on September 25th, 2009, at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center. The invitation- only event was totally over-subscribed and the reviews were unanimous: "Best Gadgetoff Ever!" Participants shared a mind-boggling array of devices, machines, illusions, inventions, rockets, radar, magic, mayhem and literally showed tons of the latest technological marvels. The gorgeous day began with our traditional ferry ride from Manhattan to a majestic venue along the shores of New York Harbor. In the Greek Revival Music Hall scores of dynamic and mesmerizing presenters enchanted fellow participants. Stage demonstrations featured cameras that shoot around corners, survive bomb-blasts, and capture bullets in mid-flight; to stews of new robots; bewildering optical and "magical" illusions; to other technologies that change how we explore the earth. The audience was strafed by a model plane made of garbage; observed robo-mechanical flies visible only under a microscope; and enjoyed human-cyborg Steve Mann's virtuouso hydraulophone concert. Dean Kamen showed the latest developments of the miraculous artificial limb he designed while Juan Enriquez revealed how efforts to harness "artificial life" are beginning to radically transform the future of energy... and so much more! No Gadgetoff would be complete without a monster trebu
