Except when i was at harvard I never had the luxury of simply plugging into an existing structure, and have always had to build my own.. It is a compromise.. It would be easier, and welcome, to simply be a part of something that was already great and where I could concentrate on nothing else, but in the absence of that i have tried to bring the mountain to mohammed... I have built programs at various places, and it takes time. At least generally 4-5 years, with fundraising, before things really get running. This is particularly difficult and sensitive because I am working across an entire university, and in certain areas starting from scratch. It is the most ambitious thing I have tried to do, outside of my own research, but that is why I left to do it. I could have happil
