Rangel " [4:"Rangel for Congress Jeffrey, 54 years ago this month, the sit-ins in Greensboro were instrumental in transforming the civil rights movement and ending legalized racial segregation in the US. Four black students sat down at a "white's only" Woolworth counter and the store manager asked them to leave. But they didn't. 20 more students joined the sit in the next day, and by the fourth day, more than 300 young people refused to leave. Soon, Woolworth's and other establishments ended their discriminatory policies. l..,'The Civil Rights Movement inspires us today. Their example inspires us in our fights today for jobs, justice, and freedom. And when I marched on Washington 3 years later, it was young people who were energized and organized. I may be a little older and wiser now, but I know that young people can change the course of history. Register to vote and join the fight against today's injustices. I know just how important young people can be to change the world. That's why sponsoring the first-ever House Student App Challenge so that the next Mark Zuckerberg comes from our own backyard. But progress won't just come from inventing the next Facebook. Fifty years ago, we marched on Washington for jobs and freedom and that's just as relevant today. When we marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it was not just to secure the right to vote but to ensure economic justice for all. And we'll achieve progress on living wages, affordable housing, and justice when we vote for it. I urge you to register to vote, and to encourage every young person you know to register, too. Thank you, L.:Charles Rangel Charles B. Rangel Member of Congress . Already registered to vote? Want to help us register more young people to vote? Donate today! EFTA00374573
